I have posted several discussions on my friends Mary and Jeff who are expecting around December 3rd. I saw Jeff the other day nad he seemed to be ready to be a dad! Well that is s good thing but Mary is getting so close to having the baby, Jeff thinks he can drive 4 hours in a car to his grandparents to go deer hunting next weekend when shotgun season starts! Then he thinks when the baby is born he won't have to help get up at night at times to help her out! He also thinks if she is still recoverying from the birth he can just take the baby with him to his parents for Christmas! Mary is going to breast feed to start with! Secondly jeff doesn't have an idea that a woman close to her due date should not be traveling far from home! Even after MAry has talked to him about it! I hope when this baby is born,Jeff will get the rude awaking he needs! I know guys can be worse when they become dads! I wish Jeff would be more understanding!

It sounds like he is going to be in for a real awakening. Babies can be the sweetest thing to happen in a couples lives. I hope he wakes up and joins the real world. Doesn't he have any friends that are dads? He needs to talk to them.

I know Jeff has friends who have children. I don't know if he has talked to them or not. The way he has talked,I don't think so! I remember when him and Mary got married 2 and a half years ago. Not long after that he said they would have kids but their lives would be over after the kids would come! I know when a child is born your life changes and it is not over! Mary understands this! I hope Jeff wakes up soon or he will have a huge awaking!

I hope it doesn't cause problems when the child comes. They should be a happy time and there is enough stress just with them. A man being a jerk shouldn't be a part of the mix.

He will be getting a big wake up call....and he will be dealing with emotions that he never expected....Once the baby is born and he holds him....well it will be a whole new world....

I am hoping once Jeff sees the baby and holds its, he will think differently! Otherwise he will have a rude awaking for sure! I have no idea what the baby is. Mary and Jeff are one of the few people who didn't want to find out what is before it is born! So we will see!

Poor Jeff and Mary. I don't know what it's like to be a dad but having a child brings some memorable moments and some very loving times. I think a guy who does not participate or who is not encouraged to participate or not pushed to join in, is missing some of the best moments in his life. The smallest amount of participation has a profound affect on a child's growth , mentally and spiritually that is. Someone needs to point out to Jeff that he will be missing out big time by not having a go.

He sounds like so many men that I know. Hopefully, she will push him to bond with the baby and that will help a lot. Women tend to bond long before even giving birth and it seems common that men feel a bit disconnected. I pushed my ex to change diapers and give baths, hold them, etc and not just to help me but because the time spent with them (fun and not so fun) helps to bond them together. He did balk at first as he was nervous and also thought it was a "mom's" job. He later on, thanked me for pushing him. With all his issues, he did manage to form a close relationship with his daughters.

I know Jeff has been talking to the baby! So he has done some kind of bonding. I just don't know how much he will when the baby is born! He might surprise us! I know men don't have the feelings like we woman do! Maybe if they could get pregnant they would think differently! My brother's changed diapers, helped with the feedings and other things. I have other male friends who have also! Jeff and Mary will be parents pretty soon and we will so how Jeff reacts! It should be fun!
