Eminem and his infiltration in hip hop

I was apart of the Slim Shady revolution when at 16 in 2001 I was living in a hostel and was just another lost kid finding my way in the world. This was the time I first remember hearing Eminem first album the Slim Shady LP which for some reason everybody of my generation seemed to love and looking back in time with the write media exposure and his obvious talent to rhyme this man had the world at his feet. 14 years later we have posh people walking around like gangsters and a style of rap music that is very far away from what the idea of what rap was invented for. It is no longer poetry for the poor and a chance for the unheard to be heard and rap music has been turned into a rap industry that is about making money before all else. Eminem has made millions promoting no moral subjects and this is not in my opinion what rap should be trying to promote and idolize.

I don't think rap SHOULD all be about the poor people... not to talk about that before Eminem there have been people who have rapped about nonsense and silly stuff as well, and he himself didn't make the rap scene as it is now, but all other aspects. For me, in a phase, I was really sick about rappers rapping about how they got out of the ghetto and how horrible their life was... most seemed like a gimmick trick to make people talk about how cool they are to make a rags to riches story. Not to talk about that Eminem has made loads of songs which have real value to them, and which ARE about true personal feelings... not necessarily stuff that want to change the world or talk about political messages, but I don't care... Lose yourself, Not afraid, Like toy soldiers, Cleanin' out my closet - they are really deep songs. I too hate what's going on in the charts of today on the rap side, but it's not Eminem's fault, but consumer society's and of the rise of uneducated people...

I think Eminems songs are extremely political(White America) and for many years he was used by the music industry as a puppet and a label to promote a brand which had no morals, truth or substance. I do believe he has turned his back on all that now and if you listen to not afraid I believe that is exactly what he is saying,I think he wants a more calmer life but that is only because it all nearly killed him and actually killed his best friend. I am not denying his talent I listened to him for years, but if you go back to who invented rap,the reasons why it was invented the mainstream rap industry of today is more like R&B all about you no what. but that is just the way it is it isn't going to change as two many people would loose there money. I do not think everything is Eminems fault but he was certainly used as a tool by those who's fault it is there is a rise in uneducated people.
