I used to fix both Thanksgiving and CHristmas dinners for my family. I remember when I had first gotten out on my own and fixed my first Thandsgiving turkey and had my grandmother and mother over to enjoy the feast. I was so proud to do this for them after they had done it for so many years. It was a great experience. Do you have any traditions that you have carried over into your holiday? For me I do a layered banana pudding dish for dessert. It is banana pudding, vamilla wafers and bananas layered in a bowl. I don't like the bean casserole they advertise on tv all the time. I don't fix it. Do you? We have mashed potatoes, dressing and a vegetable or two, olives and cranberry sause and then whatever desserts we want. Do you do it differently? What differences do you observe?

We do the Turkey and stuffing. Gravy and homemade mashed potatoes. Oh..I make a broccoli casserole that the family adores that I don't make at any other time of the year. My oldest daughter just asked me a couple of days ago if I would be making it. I like pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving too. I remember this huge homemade Strawberry cheesecake that my cousin's grandmother used to fix for Thanksgiving every year. I miss it.

I fix the same thing every year, lol. We now go to my son's house or we have for the last 2 years but i have to do alot of the cooking because his wife doesn't cook much. My other dil liked to cook so she brings quite a bit. I always have to make the dressing, lol. I'm going to make a sweet potato casserole that most of them like & my dil wants me to make pecan pies. Her dad loves them & they are going to be here from east tennessee. I'm actually getting off light this year. Hope u have a nice one.

Ours should be nice. I can't eat much pecan pie because it is just too rich for me. My mom used to eat mince meat and got very sick one year. Sweet potatoe casserole huh?

Well, when it comes to Thanksgiving dinner it is always still the Traditional turkey. Then I always have to have Mashed potatoes and Gravy, Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce, pickles, rolls, olives and usually I have pumpkin pie and my husband has apple pie for dessert. For Christmas the only difference we usually do is Ham instead of Turkey as that was my family tradition when I was growing up.

I would sure like to have the ham too but my family doesn't like it so I never do get it. But I like it with augratin potatoes. THe ham that is. Love all the trimmings. I'm a sweet pickle eater. I remember my grandmother's pickle relish. So good. She added onions to the sweet pickles. So good! Happy holidays.

We do turkey and ham dinner because my little sister doesn't like turkey so we do a ham for her. And we have mashed potatoes, lots of veggies and corn. But before dinner we have snacks like chips and salsa, black olives, pickles, pretzels and dip. Then my mom makes a ton of desserts she does 4 different pies and brownies. I can't wait until Thanksgiving dinner so yummy. It's coming quick and then before you know it, it will be Christmas. This year is just flying by.

So you do an entire ham for one person? That is nice! I would like ham for one or the other of the dinners but no one likes it so I never do. We have some snacks too usually about the same as you. I would like more desserts but we will only have one or two. This years is going fast. Happy Holidays!

I think our new tradition here is going to be to watch Fiddler on the Roof on Thanksgiving. We did that last year (I'd never seen the movie before), and I think that I want to do that again this year and establish this as a Thanksgiving tradition for us.
I will roast a beautiful Tofurkey and have a few sides and dessert with it. I don't follow any family recipes or anything for the holiday.

Fiddler on the Roof huh? I don't think I have ever seen it. I do have certain movies I like to watch during the holidays. Have to see White Christmas. Holiday Inn and The Bishop's Wife(old one not the one with Houston in it) Happy holidays.

The people are so excited organizing the things they are going to do on Christmas break. Some people think to host for parties or spend time cooking with the other family members to be shared on the time of this special occasion. It is really a worth to think over being with close friends and relatives.
