Precalculus...

This class is going to be the death of me. I am taking a college level precalc class in the 11th grade and I really don't like it...The only reason I am taking it is because I don't want to take my SATs after not taking math for a long time. I honestly don't like math, never really have, but I was always pretty good at it. I really am not doing too well with precalc this year. I find it a bit challenging. I always think I did really well on the tests and I knew what I was doing and then I get the test back and I look at it and wonder what was going through my head when I took it because all the things I got wrong were silly mistakes. I really need to stop making silly mistakes and pay attention to what I am doing...I guess it's time to get off the computer and do my precalc homework...

I've not heard of precalculus, is that a lead into calculus? Calculus is a difficult branch of mathematics and you have to really work at it to understand it. Integrals and differentials don't appear as obvious as say the trigonometry functions. Never forget the fact that one bean plus two beans equals three beans.

Well if it helps you to count it can only be a good thing.

I didn't pay for the credits though because I don't have to take it in college because I want to go into theater education.

Yes it is a lead in to calculus. Maybe it is only something they do where I live, but I know we can get it to count as college credits.

Calculus was never my favorite subject. I took AP calc my junior year and I struggled with it all year. There were certain chapters I'd do really well on but whenever it came to the test, my teacher would make all the problems impossible to do. I think I managed to get an A for one semester. I would spend hours on the homework and studying for a test but it didn't really get me anywhere. It's just one of those subjects you hate but have to tough out all the hard work and get the class over with. Good luck!!

The things we are doing right now aren't too bad but some of it is just too much. I wish It was a little easier, but I study and do my work so I don't know why it is like this, but I'm sure the harder I try the better I will get!

Yeah I know what you mean. I would study for hours and do my homework every night and I'd pay attention when we'd go over the homework in class. But for some reason my teacher would just make the tests impossible. Most of the class would literally fail each test. Only a handful of people would get a few A's and B's on the tests. lol Getting a C on a test was comparable to getting an A+

Yeah that's how it is with my class too. Granted, I am in a class where at any given time there are about 10 people who didn't do the homework, but it just seems really hard. I do try, its just not an easy thing for me. I guess everyone has those subjects that aren't easy though

Just like you, I took precalculus as a junior in high school and it was a class that I struggled in as well. However, I was somehow able to get through it. I think that one of the things that helped me is that I was never afraid to talk to the teacher for a little bit of extra help when I found that there was something that I was struggling with. I hope that you are able to get through the class and that you do really well when you do take your SATs.

I'm sure I will get through it. I think I'll do fine on my SATs. Thank you(:
