The title pretty much says it all. They called their new baby Hashtag. I don't want to live on this planet anymore...

I know! I thought it was bad when a sports loving couple named their child Espn, but Hashtag is so much worse.

There are lists of names that people have tried to call their kids - some have been prevented by the authorities from doing so. It shows the mentality of those who have the god-given responsibility of being a parent, they see it as an 'opportunity' rather than a responsibility - it's a fairly sad reflection on modern society. It's a pity there isn't a test that people have to pass before they can conceive...

It doesn't sound that bad, does it? Well, I have seen a post here with a linked to an article about a parent naming their child with numbers and letters that actually cannot be read but should be pronounced as a common name (I actually forgot the name, but I'm sure it was something commonly used or heard), and then there were others still. I think that someday the government will have to do something about this, if they haven't already yet.

They definitely didn't bother considering the consequences of choosing such a weird name for their daughter. I wonder how this is going to turn out. I bet she's either going to be really embarrassed by it and go by a nickname until she's old enough to petition the court for a legal name change, or she's going to embrace it and use the hashtag symbol for her signature.
