Those who donate blood are direct angels from heaven. Hats off to them. Anyway every healthy person can donate blood may be every three months.

Yes they have my dear, before you donate blood they make sure that you are healthy and free from any diseases. because if they will not do so then the reciever of that blood will be at risk.

Does they have some test to do before you are able to donate blood or you can just donate right away?

Donating blood is neither beneficial or detrimental to your health. Your friend is quite correct and the blood donated is usually replaced by your body within a couple of hours, with no real difference in your health even prior to the blood being fully replaced. You would usually be advised not to drink or smoke for a few hours after giving blood, but this is simply because they would have a greater effect since they would constitute a higher percentage due to the lower quantity of blood during that period.

I was a blood donor for decades, but it has been a while since I last gave any. I do once remember a girl fainting at one of the sessions I went to, but it was purely from apprehension. It is surprising how we all react so differently to similar situations.

Waah!! she fainted? that is one thing that scares me on donating blood..i bet you are really healthy since you often do that thing. You are really generous.

There is nothing wrong in donating blood atleast once a year. Healthy donors can donate about 1 unit (pint) of blood volume. This lost blood is replenished by the body within a day. Also, the bone marrow replaces the lost blood cells within a couple of weeks. It is common to experience slight dizziness or lightheadedness after blood donation. You could really feel that as well most especially if you have not rested quite enough after donating blood.

So it is common to feel dizziness? how about fainting? They said some donors fainted when they on the process of donating blood. is this thing common too or not?

It's not unhealthy to give blood but it's not going to renew it's self. Your body will replace the blood it loses.

First you have to qualify to do blood donations. Fear I can't help you you have to do that yourself. I hate needles too but I can get shots and give blood but I don't weight enough to donate. I've had blood taken while being pregnant all of the time.

Hi CloudXD, yes your friend is right. Blood donation is especially good to man compare to ladies. Well, not that blood donation is not good for ladies...what i mean is, ladies have their blood renewed every month when their period comes. But for man, if they do not donate blood, their blood is never renewed. So one the one hand, we donate blood to help others in need; on the other hand, our blood is being renewed. Donating blood is really a healthy event. But do perform checkup to ensure our blood is clean, so that we do not affect others. Previously there was a huge news about a patient engaged with AIDS after receiving blood from the hospital during surgery. This blood comes from the people's donation. Only healthy people should donate their blood, and we donate to help, not to harm others. Well, the people who will take your blood will firstly check whether you are qualify to donate blood or not. They will check your weight, and whether you have eaten or not, and others. This is to ensure that you do not faint after donating blood. Have a nice day.

Oh how sad!! Don't they check up first or make a test first before donating? so that they will really ensure that the donor is free from any of this diseases. It is really important to have this things in a proper way so that there will be no trouble when the blood is being used by the other people.

Dear Cloud, your friend is right and there is no harm in donating the blood. I can uderstand your situation. Most of the people they are afraid of donating blood. There is mo harm in donating the blood as the blood donated is replaced by our body within few hours with newly formed blood. Otherwise also our blood is purified o regular basis by our body by destroying the ingredients of the blood periodically. So I think donating blood is a noble thing and this can save a life in case of emergency. Since now a days very sophisticated blood collecting equipment are used to collect the blood getting infection because of donating the blood practically have become minimal. So I strongly recommend and appeal every one to donate the blood so that in case of emergency the donor will also get back the blood free from blood bank as you will become voluntary blood donor! Thanks!

Indeed it is not just an act of generosity, but also is good to your health provided you are in good shape and is generally healthy most of the time. As long as you don't suffer from any blood deficiency or cytoplasm blood diseases, and have the means to continue intake of nutritious food daily, your donated blood plasma will replenish by your body quickly, that is really nothing to afraid of, you will not lose those pint of blood forever, it is reproduced afterward. The only feeling you will get after donated your blood is mostly very lite symptom like feeling of slight dizziness inside your head or sweating. That is all you get in return for giving your blood out to help someone in need of transfusion.

Wow you really explain every details huh? The plasma ,cytoplasm and everything haha. i guess you are really into blood donations. You really encourage me to do so. I hope one day i can face my fears and be able to help others by donating my own blood.

It cannot hurt you and it is certainly beneficial to the person who rceives it. Your body makes back the same amount of blood taken from you in a very short space of time. I gave blood until I became hypertensive and then was unable to donate any blood again. I believe that all people should donate blood if they are in good health.

Initially even I too have thought like this earlier. But later only I understood it is beneficial in all ways. Donating blood would help the person who receives it and also helps the donor to have new blood in his body and it will be with in few hours after the donation. After understanding all these facts till now I have donated blood for 4 times and am still feeling very healthy now.

I think you don't need to be afraid to be a blood donor, because the blood that you have donated will be replaced by the new one within the next few hours or days. As long as you are healthy you won't have any health problem if you donoring your blood. It has no real difference in your health even with you donating your blood. Beside you also help someone by donating your blood and it's a noble thing to do. And I heard it's also good for your health actually.
