A discissopm or not?

I make a discussion totally of my aunt Clara's recipe for the best sponge cake ever.Or I make a discussion telling about the milestone of my 58000 points.Or again I have to show you my new game I invented .Maybe I just make it a big joke, or fill it full of links to my online business. Again I just question you about what is your favorite color or gum or kind of candy is it not a discussion?,Perhaps I'm just so broke I ask you for some donations to "", that a discussion:? Maybe I am asked to gather funds for Save that horse so I make that my discussion asking all my mylotter friends to contribute to my cause, that a discussion?Again lets say I am angry at my lot about deleting my response on some discussion so I sort of tell them off about how mean they were, that a discussion? So what is your take my fellow mylotters, have I not broken most all the rules with all these non discussions? Oh yes and I decide since I am learning the Irish language I just make the whole discussion in the Irish language, am I not breaking a rule here. lesson over.

Um, before the possibility of this getting deleted, can I have your aunt Clara's recipe? Or you can say, "This is how they use to make sponge cake" Share your recipe and then for a discussion, inquire what makes this different from recipes today and would it be more unhealthy? (Yet totally delicious because only unhealthy food is so good) I am afraid as long as there are newcomers as well as stubborn veterans, you will continue to see "non-discussion" posts...

hi carm I ne ver had an A unt Clara lol. oh my did you see that title? I want to crey from embarrassment as why oh whyif I just had to miss a typo it would have to be in the two word title? yes as long as they do not read the guidelines they will moan over deleted discussions and still not understand they could read the guidelines and learn the do nots. But by making that damnable error not many will get the drift of my topic. They will all ask what is that misspelled word? This is the discussion I almost did not make and probably should not have.

Gerty has a point there, you may just have made up a way to get those who won't read the guidelines to read your posts...lol I already told you what I thought about your mistake in your other post, but I'll say it again, even published authors misspell words..

Yes those are violations Aunt Hatley. I got a couple of discussions deleted for duplicate discussions, which clearly they weren't, but I didn't get mad and cry about it on mylot because I know it is a violation. There are so many folks that don't have ANYTHING to say, so they ask pointless questions (pun intended) to try and make a few cents. I don't care how anyone takes their coffee. I don't care who makes their bed and who doesn't. I don't even care who eats bacon for breakfast! I won't respond to those types of discussions because I know they violate mylot rules. Have a great and wonderful day Hatley.

Hatley, if others are like me, they come to your discussions just because they are your discussions, and we would never be mislead by your typo.

hi GardenGerty and PointlessQuestions thanks for not mentioning my horrid typo in the title. I am totally embarrassed. I read your discussions too Pointless and I thought y ou should have asked admins whether they really were duplicates. I tried to get most of the rules breakers but missed duplicate discussions. I just hope that that misspelled word in the title does not ruin everything.

I think that it would be a rather moot point as to whether some of them truly qualified as discussions, although I do appreciate the point that you are making. It can be easy to decide in some cases that a discussion submitted is a blatant breach of Mylot guidelines, but others are so debatable that it is impossible to predict how admin will react to them. I am sure that most of us have received notification before now that our response was deleted because the discussion itself was deleted, which does support my opinion since we would not waste our time responding had we known beforehand. All too often members try to turn out discussions like a production line and easily fall prey to overlooking the the dangers involved.

The fact still remains that discussions of similar ilk to the examples you gave do exist and have not all been deleted. Interpretation is the key factor and in particular whether or not admin choose to delete them.

hi asylum also some tim es A lex claims that the admins g ets b usy and needs us to help report those that broke the rules. I did not like doidng this at first b ut still they ask us for help.also Alex told me he will pass on some Poll types if the discussion has got a lot of great responses. He saved one of mine when I asked if it could be saved. Sometimes really the admins just misses them too.

asylum wrong go read t he do nots in the guidelines as I used my lots dol nots in making this discussion so new people and yes older people can see what does not make a disussion. I did not just m ake these up out of my own mind. I even put in sentence about lesson over. reread my discussion. I made this to show what not to write in a discussion. I am hoping people will get the idea that these are example of the do nots from the guideline3s put in to my own wor dsd. these are clearly rule breakers. I hope someone really understands that all the examples I' showed are from the do not in the guidelines . I felt if they had examples of what not tol do they might remember it better.I was not asking anyone if they brok ru les as I knew they did. ..

I can make a discussion about a recipe, if that is not the entire discussion, and I have seen a sneaky lamb insert a milestone. . . but generally speaking this is exactly right. These are not ideas that can be expanded upon, and they do not make for some give and take. In the case of the recipes, they may also be copyrighted and none of us wants to be a plagiarist. That is why we have to be careful. I guess wrong occasionally on what to answer, but I do not get mad about it, it just shows that I can guess wrong.

hi gardengerty I had three responses the other day and only one of them had I decided was a rule br aker. that one I responded to show the newbie that she had broken a rule. The other two I am not sure yet what rules they broken but probably a poll type. I am also careful not to air any irritation to the admins if I got something deleted.,I am so upset that I missed a typo in the title.

We must be careful as there are too many landmines in mylot. The guidelines to the right path are provided and why some people are still posting discussions that are bound for mylot bin and dragging others too. And those repeated discussions would also be bundled up together with the rest.

well i can certainly understand why we are not allowed to send links to our referrals and to ask for money because we dont discuss such things day to day with our people/friends that are not here. but ive always wondered why recipes and some clean jokes are not for discussion yes, i know its in the guildlines since ive learned the hard way but i do know that from day to day a person sometimes shares jokes and recipes with friends.and yes it makes me happy that at least in mylot we have to discuss in our language here in our country. im with them on that one!!

hi bunnybon I think if you make a discussion about cooking and make it so there's something to discuss then slip in a recipe I think this has been done before by several people we both know thats not a violation or putting in a joke in a discussion as I have done that too. You just have to give people' something to discuss then slip in the joke or the recipe.Don't you hate it when someone puts t ext language in a discussion like y for why and u for you and one i hated kwim as I finally asked what doe3 that mean. She said " Know what I mean?" And now here in the US we have to have four different languages on all the folders you get with your medications. i mean this is the US should not people who live here now learn English? my rant day I guess. lol.

Don't worry Hatley as I am the queen for typos. I just do not see them until I post. I have just posted a discussion and now I am cringing as the typo is in the header- same as yours Once again, you are asking mylotters to abide by the rules and once agian, many of them won't be bothered enough to even READ the rules. Dear Ms Hatley Wow, your list of coming-up discussions seems to be a huge big one and am sure there are many on those which would risk facing the axe,.. But you missed out many others which get through and mean nothing as a discussion... like something - I had bread and eggs today for my breakfast... or better I took my cat outside for a walk I wonder where is the discussion on these but they still take so much space on mylot

hi the sids I also missed the one on duplicates and nonsense discussions. I saw one that read I do not like licorice. Okay so what what is there to discuss as its sort of a yes or no situation. I cannot see going on and on about liking or not liking licorice. one on losing her handkerchif on the bus really did turn into a discussion. bu t some others like you mention just set there.I think they will be deleted but may take awhile to do so. I saws One "My toe itched" and reported it and they did delete it. There was no other context at all.I think so many are still thinking of questions and answers like on some sites. So they just ask something that can be answered in one word.

Hi miss hatley! Actually, when I start a discussion, I always incorporate it to my daily activities. So even those times that I was not able to fully understand the rules, I already write this way. Maybe this is the reason why I can say that I am safer doing it this way. Although I have some responses or comments that were deleted due to the deletion of the original post. Well, anyway it is part of the game and for me it is just okay. We learn along the way thus minimizing if not totally eradicating mistake. So this is what you mean? I read the other one first. Well, I could say upon reading the title, I became more interested in knowing the meaning of the word, it can be a good strategy, he he. Have a nice day!

I think there will be someone who breaks the rule, even if they read them or not. When I first started I read all the rules, but still broke rules. Some of us learn from or mistakes others dont. I try to make mine discussions and leave room to swing either way, not some brief non open discussion.

Can you tell me what's the title should be? In my profile I had 21 discussions. whooo hoooot and in my first few discussions, I saw Miss Diana on them with her flashing ? mark. Hmmm.. such a new ... as in just a few-second mylotter. Her comment??? Read the FAQ. Lol I did not mind. Then the next day all my discussions were deleted. I was terrified . Oh my, they will ban me now. fortunately I am still here, very cautious. I had a respond also that was again deleted because I put on a site for commercial. Whatta... it was a nice response and deleted because of a little mistake. LOL such stupid me, anyway I am learning little by little just like baby steps. Hatley, Very cool discssion but unfortunately the ones that break the rules don't seem to be the ones that read these discussions. It's all the ones that agree with you and find the rule breaking annoying. As for your typos...we all make them. I wonder if it could be your keyboard. I just got rid of a keyboard that the keys did not work well on. I had to pay constant attention or I made so so many typos. I just got a new one and honestly, this one isn't much better...just a little better. The keyboard to my old desktop is amazing and works so well but it isn't compatable with my lap top and the desktop is so so slow.

Hi Hatley~ What a great discussion! And the funny thing about it is the people who it is aimed at won't even get it. How sad that is. At least you tried. There are always those that are going to do it "their way" no matter what they are told. You and Lamby keep trying all the time (and others too) to explain as simply as possible the "rules of myLot". Those that get it seem to be few and far between! They usually come here for awhile and disappear anyway. I'm glad that we are still here-5 years and counting! Leslie

hi leslie yes I came about the same time you did and I have followed Lambie' and Diana and yet we seem to be always on a losing battle but a few do seem to care and do read the guideline. they are the ones who will stay. those others have dollar signs in their eyes and I guess it blinds them tp actually enjoying mylot and making friends and having fun with each other. We can enjoy being here and have fun and still get paid for it. I would think that would keep more people here but I guess not.

There are rules on every site. There are also guidelines. And from what I gather or understand, we have to read between the lines. I have had some discussions deleted. But not many. Asking a question like do you like this or that is considered a poll question and is not permitted here. If it is nonsense it will not go over very well. I think they want us to start a discussion that is interesting and that would generate lots of responses.

hi inertia yes that according to mysdiana is the whole purpose of my lot to make discussions that interest and get responses and get us commenting on all the responses so its a real discussion and then comment back and forth til we are really having a conversation on the net.. inertia remember we earn only if we comment back on all the responses we get. we are not paid for the responses no matter if we get 6 or 60 instead.we have to type comments back to earn well on our own discussions, those mylotters who typed the responses to our discussions get the pay as they did the typing you type you earn I type I earn.

hi Kalyni no no no never any special favor for me. that was an example of a milestone discussion as I was celebrating a supposed 58000 no I am nowhere near that number yet,it was a hypothetical discussion breaking the milestone rule about not making milestones into discussions. All the discussion example I made were rule breakers trying to show new people what the rules are and now a rule breaking discussion would look. I fear that that dreadful misspelling of discussions bypassed my real discussion entirely. No I have Inot yet got close to 58000 and those are not real discussions that I made, they are just examples of what ru e breaking discussions can look like.

Talking of recipes, just after the Second World War, when there was still rationing, but some of the wrong people had money (black marketeers?), the greengrocer had a melon for sale. The lady ahead of my mother at the front of the queue tentatively asked how much it was and turned away disappointed - out of the question. From further back in the queue came "I'll 'ave it!". When this second lady had bought it she turned to the first lady and asked "'Ow d'yer cook it". "Cover it in salt water and boil until tender" was the reply. Can anyone improve on this recipe?
