I thank skype a lot,it has helped me a lot when i was away from my parents,i've always been connected with my parents through skype on my phone,Its totally free!and that is what i like most about it!I share every moment with my parents,whether i'm on the road or in house,Its one of the most important applications in my laptop,I will call it a blessing seriously,i have got lots of advices from my parents when i was in problems and all is because of skype!I can't live without it because i cannot live with my parents because of some reason!

Thanks for sharing, welcome to mylot, yes for some it is so helpful, you feel as if you are seeing and talking in real.
I use Skype too for chatting, but I prefer yahoo messenger video chat.

Yes, its true I also use it for video chat when my family members are far away from me.
and now skype is in hands of Microsoft. They give skype credits using Bing. http://www.bing.com/rewards/redeem/000100000015
and we can call to a phone if we have skype credits , we can buy skype credits too it is good if others are not infront of their laptop/pc.

Oh ! am i left by time ? To most seems skype is that important and why me i don't have that account yet. I also don't like video and voice chat. Gmail is enough for me just a chat no voice nor video as simple as that. Skype is good and easy to be installed and its significance varies to each of us. Like you it is your lifeline towards parents , that is a big helped to you and to parents too. God bless !

Oh yes, me too .it is really a big help. however I have a question about it... sometimes, i dont like to use voice because I don't like other people to hear me. So, I am using the chat box. Is there any font size on the chat box? I mean I like bigger font.
