I worked on an office before and is a secretary of a famous person in business industry. I just don't do work in the office but also in his personal life. I am responsible for everything even with his utility bills of his different estates all over the country. That was not stated in our contract but I do it anyways without question because he pays well and I have a brother that I was supporting in college that time. He has an anger management issue and I put up with him even if he's always shouting and saying bad words at me and rarely appreciate the good things that I have done for him. I work 6 am to almost 10 pm Mondays to Saturdays (sometimes even Sundays) just to cope up with everything that needs to be done. Until I became tired of the shouting and the bad words that I resigned the next day not even thinking how will I be able to pay all my bills. I worked for him for 9 years but he doesn't seem to notice. After a week, he called me and even went to the house to see if I already found a job. He is offering to double my salary but I declined. I am not earning as much as before but I am happy and I was able to pay all the bills with my food cart business and my clothing and accessory business and in myLot. If you were in my position, will you accept the offer and put up with his attitude for the money? Until now, he is contacting me and telling me that if I want my job back, he will give it to me.

If I were you, I would opt to seek other jobs for many reasons. First, your boss' attitude can affect you psychologically cause stress and depression. It can boil your blood and eventually give headaches. You would feel like worst than a slave and can cause you unseen deceases later on.

And I don't have the time to enjoy anymore because I feel so tired that when I get home I just want to sleep. When I wake up, I don't look forward to my day anymore and just take a deep breath and hope that he's having a good mood or sick so that he will not go to the office.

If I had the means to earn elsewhere, I also wouldn't consider going back even if my boss doubles my salary. Obviously, the stress I would be dealing with each and everyday isn't worth the pay. One reason is that when we're stressed out, there's a high chance we'll get sick. So that increase in my salary might just go to medical bills.

You were right. I got hospitalized two years ago because of chest inflammation. The doctors told me that it is because of stress. I was shocked that people can really get seriously ill because of stress. I told my boss about it and he volunteered to pay the bills. Even if the doctor told me to stay at home for a week, he wants me to go to work after three days. I guess you're right. Reminiscing that moment with him tells me that it's not worth it. Thanks Beamer88!

I think you had taken the right decision, even though it is late. Why one should take the insult from so called boss? You had been paid for the job you use to do. Good thing you have done to show him that money is not everything in life but the work satisfaction is more important. Such people understand the value of the person only when that person is not with them, same thing has happen in case of your previous boss, who had realized your value and the work you use to do, that's the main reason he was offering you double salary. I appreciate your decision for not bending for high salary but determined to show you too have got self respect

Yes, even though I realized it a little late, at least I was able to get out of the situation. I was a bit afraid to lose the job and have to work on a different environment and meet new co-workers again. But I did it and I'm happy. But the money and the benefits he's giving me is incomparable but my stress free day is priceless.
