Ways to see more countries

Some people buy an airline ticket and then come back home overland. Then the person can travel through several different countries. Another thing I recommend to visit more places than the one is by getting an open jaw flight like into Panama and out of Guatemala City. Then the person could travel through Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador. Getting a train pass is a great way to see a number of different countries. Some people like to cruise around a region. Which ways do you think it would be possible to visit more countries? Are there some countries you wish to visit but haven't had the chance to go to yet?

I have traveled to different countries in one trip when countries are small. I found out that you can do that easily while travelling in most of Europe. When I was young, I went with my husband camping and my brother, then living there, lent us their car. As you well know, when you like to travel there are always places where you would like to go. I know I will not see them all. But I will do as much as I can.

Hi my dear friend. I so very much enjoyed visiting you in March. It was lovely to see four different countries in South America. It was great you saw different European countries. It must have been lovely to go camping with your husband when he was alive. It was superb that your brother lent you his car for some exploring. That trip of yours sailing from Colombia up to the islands in Panama I found ever so exciting to hear about. I am delighted that you were well enough to visit St Maarten. You have done so very well to see some of the places on your travel wish list. I wish you to be happy and healthy. Hugs.

I just went to the doctor and she gave me another health pass for 3 months. I need a treatment next Friday and then I`m free until March. I don`t know if and where I will go now as I don`t have much money. I have had to pay several extras for my treatment, so money is short here.

My passport will just take me to Asian countries but not to all. I have traveled to some parts of Asia, but not for vacation for work which eventually since I was there already took opportunity to see some of the adventures in the place. I have plans to go to Turkey because I am so fascinated with its architecture and historical places. aww I wish I can Turkey. Another one to see is Jerusalem. though it is very expensive going there. I like historical places, if I visit the country, I want to see old cultures.

It is great that you have been parts of Asia for your work. I visited Turkey in 2003 after Christmas and into the New Year of 2004. I loved seeing the ornate looking architecture in Istanbul. I visited Israel and Jordan in 1998. It was a dream come true to visit Jerusalem. I believe prices have risen and travel was cheaper in the past.

If I could get over my plane phobia I would have visited more countries, certainly outside of Europe, I agree with you getting a train pass would be a wonderful way of travelling across countries and quite adventurous and exciting too. The only train journey abroad I have ever taken was from Bruges to Amsterdam. There are some wonderful train journeys around the world, But my urge to travel is not as strong as it was twenty years ago.

I think that it is a great idea to visit several countries. I think that trip like the one you mentioned where you fly to Panama, visit the other other countries in Central America and fly back from Guatemala sounds amazing. In other parts of the world you can do the same thing and I am thinking or doing something like that when I go to South America, because I would like to visit number of countries on the same trip. I am in Vietnam at the moment and it my last day here. I am flying back to Europe tonight. I started in Thailand and then I visited Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. I was happy when I discovered that there was a direct flight from Ho Chi Min City to Europe because that means that I won't have to go back to Thailand. Next time I go to Asia I plan on starting in Singapore and move on to Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. From the Philippines I will fly back to Europe.

One of the popular ways when you are young is a road trip where you crash into a country and rent a car and go from there but as you age you tend to want more luxury. In the US it is easy to build up credit card points etc and from there you can get a world ticket.

I think it all depends on how much time you have which way is the best to visit more countries. If it's only about more you better fly. Train will take much longer and also is more expensive. If you want to see more, meet more people, see the real life you better walk, hitch hike, choose in between different ways of traveling (except the airplane). I have no special countries in mind since I think in every country there is a lot to discover, to see and it all depends on the people you meet how great it (the experiences) will be. Now I mention that.. it's amazing how less we know many times about our own country, how less we travel in our own country like a tourist, never see it through the eyes of a tourist, but go everywhere else or like to go everywhere else. I have no special countries in mind I want or need to visit I would just like to be "on the road" again.

I think it would just be a good idea to visit countries period. I have a list of places I want to visit before I croak and I feel like I'm going to do it. London, Paris, Greece, Scotland, Italy, the list goes on and on...

The open jaw flight idea is a good one. I have not had the chance yet to leave the US but I am finally looking at the world differently and not going to allow myself to be stuck at a desk and live by others deadlines. I am saving up money through freelance stuff I actually enjoy i.e. photography, writing, real estate and will just explore mainly Africa, Italy, Greece (one trip) and Latin America (2nd trip). I think someone's particular expectations either hinder or help their trip. I want to just be amongst the people and everyday culture so do not mind being in a hostel or staying with a local family as I farm for keeps or teach English. If I wanted to visit tourist attractions and had a flight plane to keep vs. hopping a random cross country train then my trip would need a lot more money/structure.

I would like to go to Sweden, United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, and probably some others in Europe. Countries I have already been to are: Canada, United States, Mexico, Brazil, St Martin, Germany, and Spain. I would travel by plane as well as probably train and maybe bus.
