Messi Breaks the Record!

December 10, 2012 6:21am CST
Last night Messi surpassed Gerd Mller's long standing record of 80 goals in a calendar year with his two strikes against Betis. This followed an injury scare in his last game when he sustained a bruised knee. Congratulations to the little wizard!

Yes. I am so glad that he has broken the record. It is good to see that football headlines are being made for all the right reasons rather than the negative apsects we see from some of the overpaid,under-talented prima donnas!

Actually, this is in contention now. Apparently Godfroy Chitalu, a Zambian footballer, scored 107 goals in 1972, so now the Zambian FA are telling Fifa to recognize Chitalu's record. Also, Flamengo claim Zico scored 89 goals in a calendar year, so Messi could be the player with the third most goals in a calendar year..

Yes, it is another fantastic record for midfield maestro. What's more the goals that he scored were worth the occasion with clinical finishing. He still has three more games to stretch the record!! Cheers! Ram

Well done, Messi. The argentine has had a phenomenal year. The next target would be a century of goals before the end of the year? At the rate he is going, he could surpress Pele's record of more than 1000+ career goals.

Messi is a true football legend, there is no denying in it. He no doubt the best player from this moment, he might even qualify for best player of all time.
