The first place we visited in Cambodia was Siam Reap. It was a strange feeling to arrive in Siam Reap after Bangkok because it was much smaller and much more peaceful. We got visas when we arrived at the airport and the visa process was fast and easy. The staff at the airport was really impatient and unfriendly, but aside from that it was a positive experience to arrive in Cambodia and there was less waiting time than I expected. The main attraction in Siam Reap is the Angkor Wat area. We hired a driver for one day and explored the main temples and a couple of the small temples. At first we visited Angkor Thom and it is a very large area, but we visited some of the major sights like Bayon which was very impressive. Later on we visited Ta Prohm (the overgrown temple) and that was also a very interesting place to explore. The last stop was Angkor Wat. We went there in the afternoon and the weather was extremely hot, but it was amazing to visit the temples in person. It took us a while to walk from the gate to the central part of the temple, and it was interesting to walk around in the area that I had only seen on pictures before we arrived. The next day we visited a place called Cambodia Cultural village. There were a wax museum, some miniatures of famous buildings in Cambodia and many small villages where you could learn more about the ethnic groups from Cambodia. We were the only visitors in the village because we arrived quite early, and we didn't have the chance to see the dance or some of the other performances, but it was still an interesting place to visit. After Siam Reap we visited Phnom Penh. During our stay there we visited some of the famous sights like beautiful sliver pagoda, Wat Phnom (a temple on a hill) and Killing Fields. Killing Fields was different from my expectations. We walked from place to place while we listened to information on our headphones. It was a very sad experience and I was very touched by the personal stories that I heard. I don't regret going there, and I learned a lot about the history of Cambodia, but it was sad and scary to see the mass graves and listen to the stories. Have you been to Cambodia? Which places did you visit and what did you think about the country?

I very much enjoyed reading about your happy traveling time in Cambodia. I am glad it was easy to get a visa at the airport. You did well to hire a driver for the day to take you around Ankor Wat. The Cambodian Village must have been great to see. I like the sound of the silver temple. Seeing the killing fields must have been sad. I haven't yet been to Cambodia. Ankor Wat is a place I would love to see since I am ever so keen on seeing historical sites.

Angkor Wat was very impressive, and I think that you will find it very interesting if you like historical sites. The Angkor Wat area was larger than I had imagined. We managed to visit the most important temples in one day, but it would have been easy to spend 2 or 3 days there especially if you also want to visit the small and less wellknown temples in the area. We had a very good driver. He was very friendly and he helped us pick the most interesting places. The cultural village was also very interesting. I enjoyed learning more about the history and the culture of Cambodia and we spent some interesting hours there. I am happy that we also had the chance to visit the Killing Fields. It was a very sad experience to see the mass graves and the monuments, but unfortunately it is a part of the history of Cambodia and I learned a lot of things about the past during my visit there.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well that is absolutely great to hear about your trip to Cambodia and i hope u are having fun out there. To be very honest, i have never been to this place before and i hope i could go there in the future. What i know about this place is the world renowned Angkor Wat where u can find many beautiful temples and is very much a hit among the tourists. I think weather has not played a spoilsport in your case. Have fun and keep updating about your trip! What say?

I hope that you will get the chance to visit Cambodia in the future. I like the country a lot and it I think that it is an interesting place to visit. Angkor Wat was amazing. The area around the temples is very large and he had to hire a driver and ask him to drive us from place to place, otherwise it would have taken us too much time to get from temple to temple and we wouldn't have been able to visit the main temples and as well as a few of the small temples. Yes, the weather didn't ruin the experience. It was really hot, but there was air condition in the car and we drank lots of water. There is a no doubt that Angkor Wat is the main attraction in Cambodia, but I also found it is interesting to visit the capital (Phnom Penh) with a the beautiful silver pagoda and other interesting places. I would like to go back to Cambodia in the future and visit other parts of the country.
