Geez, what am I going to do with myself?

I've gotten in the habit of waking up extra early in the mornings so that I have time to do some school work before leaving for work. My usual morning routine is to get up, read my mail, then immediately get started on school stuff until it's time to get ready to go.
So today I have to work, and again I woke up extra early. Then I just sat there staring at my computer, because I don't have school work to do. All I can think of is what am I going to do with myself now that school is over?
I like getting up early on days I have to go to work early, I like having that time to wake up. But without having school work to do while I'm waking up, I'm just kind of bored!
I guess maybe you'll start seeing more of me around here now that I have the extra time on my hands!
Have you ever found a change in your schedule like this where you didn't really know what to do with yourself?

I don't find Mylot and Facebook a waste of time.. I think spending the day watching TV like we did today was a waste of time.. but we're still not feeling well and didn't have much else to do, so I guess there's no harm.

When I didn't have a job I was going crazy not knowing what to do with all the extra time. I ended up coming here more to pass some of the time when I was not job hunting. It helped a little bit. I still am working less than I was before, so I still have extra time that I don't know what to do with. My work schedule had been all over the place, so most of my down time I wanted to spend sleeping.

Even when I have free time I don't sleep. I have to get up early anyway to get the kids to school, even on days off.. then I don't bother going back to sleep because I feel like I should be doing something else.. but I usually just waste that time anyway.

Yeah, I'm hoping that comes in the form of a new full time job or something.

Well there was the 3 months that I wasn't working. On the other hand, there was unpacking, taking kids to and from school (after a couple of weeks off), etc, so I was able to find things to do.

I remember that feeling of what to do with the extra time when I had completed college but Kat I was single! I was not married. You feel bored with five children, work and a household to run? Thinks: What can Kat do? Well - she could always go back to bed and give her husband a cuddle or study for another degree
Right now, I am making a master list of all things to be done before Christmas. I have guests coming in on the 22nd of December so it is going to be an extra busy time for me as I am at thier beck and call plus managing a staff of five to meet their needs. I will be at home on Christmas Day though with my family. Want to make it magical for twins. It is 10.30 am and the other GM has yet to call to say what time the children will be collected

I'm not planning on going for another degree anytime soon. At least not until I figure out if I like the one I have or not.. plus in that profession you don't really need anything more than an associate's degree.
Maybe I just need to learn how to handle having some extra time on my hands!

I've never had to experience this.
Just last night I was thinking about this though. That when the kids do get older, and when they go to college and/or work, then I would have too much time for myself. I was thinking this because I thought I wanted more time to work out and get healthy. Hopefully I don't have to wait that long.
So what did you end up doing with your mornings?

My schedule has changed around so many times in the last six months that I really have no routine. I am in a position now that for the most part I will go to work in the afternoon, and evening after Christmas. If I wake up early, especially if no one else is in my space, I will do dishes and clean. There are always dishes to do. I like having some morning time to myself to wake up, sort of.

I usually wake up at 515 every morning and don't have to be to work til 630am. I jump right in the shower soon as I wake up and get half ready then I'll relax on the computer for 15mins to wake up a bit and then finish getting ready before I have to leave. I don't wake up an hour and a half early like some of my co workers do. I'm not really a morning person. You could watch the news in the morning before you get ready for work, read the paper, drink coffee and just relax or something. I'm sure you'll figure something out though.

With three cats and a boyfriend, I usually manage to find something to do to keep myself busy. There is always housework awaiting and cooking, writing to do, cats to entertain, books to read (especially ones that need to go back to the library!), etc...
If you miss school work too terribly, you can always take some classes online. Coursera is one of a number of sites that offers free online courses. You could always explore some things that you did not have a chance to before.

I really miss having extra time on my hands. I always have something to do, but when I was in high school I always had free time and I never knew what to do with it. Most of the time back then, I spent it watching tv--not very useful if you ask me, at least you have discovered mylot and you won't be wasting your time because you are getting some money in return.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i really appreciate those people who get up early in the morning but unfortunately i am not among those people as i get up late in the morning.
Well i can understand your situation and u must be getting bored when u must not be having any school work but then u have to look out for some extra work that will compensate your boredom on the day when u do not have any school work so that u do not feel like u have wasted time.
What say?
