Which song was it? I'm not familiar with a lot of Korean singers, just a few of the groups like 4Minute and T-ARA who've released Japanese-language songs recently. You listen to J-pop, too, right? Have you heard Nakashima Mika's Ashita Sekai ga Owaru Nara? That's one I've been listening to a lot lately. It's the Japanese theme from whatever the latest Resident Evil movie was. I thought of it immediately when I read this discussion, because Nakashima-san puts so much raw emotion into it. http://www.jpopasia.com/celebrity/mikanakashima/videos/ashita-sekai-ga-owaru-nara::26906.html

Hm... not one I've heard before, but I definitely have to agree with you after listening to it. My tastes tend to go back and forth between J-pop and J-rock. I'm burning a couple new CDs for my car tonight with some songs from Aikawa Nanase, Kamiki Aya, and Yousei Teikoku on them. There's a new one from EGOIST called Namae no nai Kaibutsu that I'll probably add, too, if I can find a place to buy it tonight.   :)

It's a lot easier to find Japanese music here than it used to be. They're starting to add some Japanese artists to the American iTunes store, but the selection is still really limited. Mostly, the songs we can buy here are the ones from really popular singers like Hamasaki Ayumi. I have an account for the Japanese iTunes store and get most of my music from there. It's kind of a pain because I have to buy Japanese iTunes gift cards to load my account, and the price has gone up a lot. I usually just use YouTube to find new artists and songs that I like, then buy the songs I want on iTunes if they're available. If they aren't, and I really like the song, I'll go ahead and buy the album or single from a site like CDJapan or eBay. I do like a few visual kei bands like Alice Nine, Matenrou Opera, Nightmare, SID, and Versailles. That's Mao in your avatar, isn't it?

Indeed it is... Everytime I am listening to any particular song, I also feel like what the song all about. Mostly, some songs about heartbreak makes me feel the feeling of being hurt. I love to hear singers who sings with all their heart for they are so good expressing the emotions beyond the song.

That is one thing I like about Asian music- whether you can understand the lyrics or not, feelings are actually conveyed. The rhythm, the melody and just the notes would be enough. I especially like Yiruma's compositions.

Yiruma is actually a pianist and composer who is from South Korea. Do try listening to his music! You can feel a lot of emotions listening to his music. Some of his compositions make you feel blissful while others would make you feel so so sad. He's a good artist. I'll recommend you three of his compositions that I like the most. He composed River Flows in You, Maybe, Moonlight. He composed so much more.

A singer or a musician can be a genius. The songs can move the inner state of mind to feel the lyrics and we may feel emotional. Great day!

This happens with me too...even when I cannot understand the lyrics of the song, I still feel so much emotion when the singer sings with full feeling! Mind sharing the song/artist you are referring to? I'm always on the lookout for new music!
