I live on Guam, where most of our shops sell clothes, shoes, and accessories a bit pricey. It's probably because of the trouble to get the items here. The bigger stores have to ship these items in and probably pay import tax. And the smaller stores are stocked by the owners when they go off-island to Korea, Hong Kong, or Philippines; and they have to make habitual trips back and forth. But some charge much too outrageous prices because the locals here will not really have much choice and don't have the chance to compare to the original prices where they were originally from. But these days, I've been into online shopping. My favorite right now is Forever 21. The online stores usually offer sales up to 50% off, so I definitely take advantage of those. And I think it's worth the shipping cost. How about you? Where are you from, and do you also have a habit of shopping online?

Thanks for your response. Yes, that's right. Sellers don't have to pay an inventory fee for a physical location. It is much easier on their expenses, and buyers are usually charged the shipping cost. So they are able to charge much less but still make profit.

I enjoy online shopping so much. It is less expensive and there are more choices. I can also read others' comments about the product I am going to buy for reference. Lately I have bought many things online and I already feel guilty to it. So I try to avoid visit the online stores so that I will not want to buy anything again

Thanks for your response. Yes, those are the two main reasons why I shop online: less expensive and more choices. That is a good reminder. I usually check what others say about a certain product before I make any final decisions as well. And hehe, I can relate. When I first started online shopping, I think I went a little overboard. So I had to take a break for a while because I felt so guilty spending so much all at once. But now I have a better hold of my online shopping habit. I haven't shopped online for about 6 months now, but I admit that I still peruse some of the sites every now and then. =P

A lot of people around me do online shopping. I get to know this from my colleagues and students. Every day there are different Express companies delivering items to our school with so many teachers and students waiting for their items from the Expresses. I am among those who love online shopping for its convenience and cheap prices. I started online shopping myself in the year 2009. Online shopping is fast and I love it. Take care.

Thanks for your response. I can relate, a lot of people here shop online as well for the convenience, cost, and variety. Unfortunately for speed, deliveries don't get here too quickly because we are a bit far from other places. By plane, we are about 12 to 14 hours away from the US mainland. But I always get very excited after a week or so when I am to expect my package in the mail. Hehe.

Hello So far I have still not tried with online shopping. But I would love to experience it at least once, not exactly I mean I would love to repeat it if I will have good experience. These days online shopping have became quite safe too, I mean with new feature like payment on delivery. By this way we can even purchase items without credit card, which is more good and risk free in compare of credit card using. And yes as you mentioned sometime we can grab really great opportunities, like getting item in very good deal. So in short it can be best one. No need to go market, people can directly purchase from their home.

Thanks for your response. Yes, I suggest you try online shopping at least once or twice. There really are a great many deals online that you wouldn't find in a physical store. But just be careful not to overspend. And check the shipping cost, maybe you might be able to avail of free shipping to your location for a bulk order. Online shopping is very convenient, but it can also just as easily become a bad habit.

Thanks for your response. I have a similar habit, and I agree that ebay has some pretty great deals for new and second-hand items. I also still enjoy shopping in physical stores, or at least window shopping. Hehe.

I've been shopping online for years because I don't drive and it's great having things delivered to me. I don't have a favorite site to shop and usually go through one of my earning sites so I also get points for every dollar I spend. I also look for free or very low cost shipping costs. I did great this year shopping for my Grandson on the Carters web site. They had great sales and only $6 for shipping.

Thanks for your response. And I think I'll check out that Carters web site as well. But oh, if you don't mind sharing, what earning sites do you use and also get points for every dollar you spend? I'd be interested to check them out sometime.

i love Forever 21's jewelry and accessories and because we live in an area with several shopping malls, i don't shop online that often but i do use my mylot earnings to stuff on ebay because i often find things that are different there and i really like to be different than other people!

Thanks for your response. I especially like Forever 21 as well. You're so lucky to live in an area with several shopping malls, and I'm sure they aren't as overpriced as they are here on Guam. But then again, if I lived in your area, it would also be a curse in that I'd be that much more tempted to become a shopping addict. Hehe. But yep, there are some pretty good items on ebay. I haven't been able to cash out here on mylot.com yet. But when I do, I will definitely use it towards ebay.

It is great indeed that you were able to find this online store. I guess you surely will be able to save on cost when you buy from them. What is important however is that you must check the items right away once they arrive to insure that they have no defects. I do have my share of online buying but it is mostly for books that I use for training and there is no discount. But I do need it so I have no choice but to buy.

Thanks for your response. Yes, I have definitely saved some money ordering online than shopping in the physical stores here in my country. Thanks for the reminder as well about checking the items right away. Fortunately, I have never yet had to return an item bought online for damages, and I hope I continue not needing to. Ahh, I see. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of training books do you buy?

I enjoy shopping online because you have the widest selection of choices for whatever it is you're buying. Things that I enjoy buying online are clothing, supplements/medicine, and musical equipment. The unfortunate thing about online shopping though is having to pay shipping. There are a lot of things I want to order offline but it's not worth it unless you buy a decent amount of stuff or else you'll be paying a good amount of shipping for not that high of a priced item.

Thanks for your response. I agree with you. I try to bulk order when I can, so that I take full advantage of the shipping cost. But sometimes, I feel that I don't really want everything in my shopping bag, that I'm just trying to fill it up for the sake of the shipping cost. You know what I mean? Like I really want to buy only 15 of the items, but 20 items is what makes a full shopping bag. So I buy 5 extra items that I don't really have the intention of buying. I wish shipping was free to Guam. Hehe.

Thanks for your response. Yes, that is right. Online shopping is very convenient. But be careful that this convenience doesn't cause you to overspend. It is so easy to become addicted to shopping online. Many sites make it even more convenient for you to become a repeat customer with the option to save your credit card or PayPal information for quick buying the next time you log on.

I'm from Canada and I shop often online to buy supplements because in the store they often don't have what I need. That doesn't mean that it is a lot cheaper but it they have more choices and than I'm looking for the cheaper shipping price too, the worst of it is when you buy books online the shipping is like very high, I was interested in book that would have cost me only $2.00 Canadian money and the shipping price was like $ 25.00 so I would have paid 12 times the book in itself,it is a bummer.

Thanks for your response. I understand where you're coming from. Most of the time, it's easier to have a wider variety at a cheaper price online. But yep, sometimes, the only drawback is the shipping cost. I was also looking at books on Amazon, and the shipping is $5 for the first book, and an extra $0.99 for each additional book. I believe that's what it was, according to the last time I saw it. I'm not sure about Canada though. You can try checking out Amazon, maybe shipping for books is cheaper?

I only buy things that are not available here in my place. Like vitamins for example. I love buying online as I'm quite lazy to go out and shop. I think I should make it as a habit now. :)
• Guam
19 Dec 12
Thanks for your response. I try to shop online only for things that are not available in my country, but sometimes I still end up buying things that are available to me here because it is usually still cheaper online. Also, there is more variety online, so it is worth it to pay for shipping. And more often than not, even with shipping cost, the item online might still be cheaper than buying it here on Guam. If you decide to make online shopping a habit, just be mindful of not overspending. I had to tell myself that many times, so that I don't become addicted and end up charging more than I have. So I usually use PayPal, which is connected to my debit card, just to play it safe.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i can understand that since people are not fashion and brand conscious there hence the shop owners are increasing the prices of the outfits for no reasons. I think this is very bad way of deceiving people and taking away their money. Anyways u can get better discounts offers and varieties through online shopping and since u r getting benefited by it u can avail it always. i have never shopped online and hope i can do it sometime in the future. What say?

Thanks for your response. Yea, I don't think it's right that the shop owners overprice the clothes, shoes, and accessories. I know it's a part of business to raise the prices higher than what it was bought for in order to make profit, but the price increase they enforce is over-the-top. But I agree that there are various discount offers online, and it's much easier and more convenient to compare prices online. You should try online shopping yourself, but be careful to control how much you spend. Online shopping is very convenient, and there's a possibility that you might overspend since you just charge to a credit card or whatnot. Maybe you can use paypal and have it directly connected to a debit card, so that you don't use credit.
