I grandmother used to make a sort of jam with sweet potatoes and nuts. It was yummy but I would not do it as you have to keep on stiring all the time. I never do that or quince jam (a big favorite for me).

Boil the sweet potatoes in a small amount of water. Cook and mash them. Add suger, a cup of sugar for a cup and a half of mashed sweet potatoes. Stir at low heat (keep stirring as it is thick and you don`t want hot bubbles to burst). Cook for 20 min and cool. You can then add nuts.

I love sweet potatoes and we are having them Friday night, they are the best! Yum. I love them sprinkled with cinnamon. You want to make a sweet potato pie. It's one of the best desserts at Christmas time. I've only had it a couple of times. I remember my sister-in-law Kathy making it for Christmas one year and it was really good. If you go to www.allrecipes.com you should be able to find a really good recipe for sweet potato pie. I would love to hear about how it turns out for you.

What a wonderful idea Maria. I've donated a few things to the homeless shelter, but you just gave me an idea. The little guy I babysit for is going to help me make some brownies, so after he gets one, I think we'll donate the rest to the shelter. Have a beautiful day.

Hon!! You make me jealous. Here, where I live nobody knows what a freaking sweat potato is!!! You are Mexican right? Well, I have a Mexican friend and she ate her sweat potatoes with Maizoro or just with milk. You are talking about sweat potatoes right? Not the white potatoes?

Baked sweet potatoes taste pretty good. Coat the sweet potato in a bit of butter, sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over it. Then wrap it up. Put it in the oven for 20 minutes or 30 minutes. That's what my mother does.

Not really very popular in the UK - sweet potatoes, you can find them if you want them. I have roasted them when I have had them

This sounds like a really Good deal, and this is a lot of Sweet potatoes. I am the only one here who likes them, so I never get a chance to enjoy them. I know adding brown sugar, marshmallows and a lot of time pineapple really gives it some good flavor for sure.

I love to bake them like a baked potato and then make a butter and brown sugar cream to lather all over the potato. My mom makes it every Thanksgiving. Its my favorite. The brown sugar and butter cream also works well with steamed baby carrots. Yummy!

You can build a little tower by bricks. Then make up a fire to create a high degree in that brick tower. Finally when the wood which you use to make fire become charcoal, you can throw the yam into the tower to bake. This is a traditional way to bake yams in Taiwan.

I am moving to Mexico, the food it so cheap there. I absolutely love sweet potato, being $1.00 - $3.00 per sweet potato I get them when they are on sale. I have one in the fridge, I usually bake it in the oven, the add butter, salt and pepper. I have tried scallop potatoes in the past, but it was hard to slice them thin. I love sweet potato pie as well, which is so delicious.

Oh. you're so lucky! we dont have sweet potatoes here in my place. I suggest, you cut in into small pieces and mixed it with condensed milk or evaporated milk with sugar. You can also make it like a french fries and fry it with brown sugar.

Maria, I think you are just trying to make us all jealous of the good deals you find! It seems like every week you have another amazing deal! :) Sweet potatoes are of course great as fries. Recently I tried it as the main dish--a sweet potato patty. It combined baked sweet potatoes (4-5) with one boiled white potato, green chilies, cumin, coriander, ginger, salt, and cornstarch into patties, then fried in some oil. You can eat it like you would eat a hamburger, or plainly with a bit of ketchup.
