It is true that wearing high heels make you look much more elegant. But have you realized that it can be very serious if you wear it all the time. Your feet may be abnormal. Besides, it will lead to many healthy problems, such as the backache, shoulder ache etc. So just don't wear high heels for a long time because it is just like a torture.

Youless, i ever sprained my ankle due to wearing high-heels for an annual party for my ex-company. It takes a few months to be able to walk like usual. Now, i normally prefer to wear sandals or tracking shoes. I tried not to hurt my ankle anymore. My doctor had advised me as not to hurt it anymore or else i would had to undergone operation for my that ankle. It is more importance to stress on the comfort of our legs than on the beauty side.

I am not good in balancing my body with high heels. It's real funny to see me walking with high heels and trying to balance at the same time. I just had it once and that's enough. It was really my first and my last time with that type of shoes. So to avoid thing like that happen to me I don't wear any high heels anymore. Maybe the one that I wore was so much for my feet to bear. Perhaps I should choose the lower heels.(^^)

I don't think my size ten feet would get into high heels to be honest. It always makes me laugh on films when men have to dress up as ladies the emphasis is on how they struggle to walk in high heels, highly comical! I believe in comfort before fashion. My ex never wore high heels she always wore trainers, I've never seen her in anything but trainers come to think of it. You rely heavily on your feet, why abuse them unnecessarily, what price fashion eh?

I have only tried the high heel once, then give it up forever.
Though the high heel can help women look well, especially give other people a feeling with long legs, I do not use it at all.
I think I am tall enough and the high heel force my feet bear a unacceptable stress on the feet. I can not control my walking speed and elegance with it.

Agree with you, dandan.(^^)
I still can remember went back home from dinner with no shoes on my feet as I can't stand wearing high heels. That few hours really killed me~ Went home with bare feet as I didn't bring any slippers with me~ No high heels from that time and onwards.(^^)

There has even been tragic cases where women have had little toes removed and parts of their foot so they can wear high heels easier. And carrying the large purses with everything stuffed into isn't good for backs or shoulders either. ALl for fashion and to keep up with the Jones'.

Hi youless!
Yes, too much of everything is really not good. I also wear high heels during especial occasions but I always preferred to wear flat shoes. I have to walk several meters a day so I need to wear something comfortable. I experienced cramps already even if I am just wearing flat shoes, what more if I have to use heel everyday?
Good advice!

the pain that women endure just to look 'pretty'...
i normally use flat-heeled shoes, but i do wear high heels for certain occassions.. i also like seeing and trying them out in the shoe shops - not necessarily buy them - i only buy when i seriously, seriously like the shoes.. i think that's why i only have 3 pairs of high heels in my shoe-cabinet..

Wearing high-heeled shoes makes a lady very nice and elegant. Out of this reason, many professional ladies are seen wearing them. I agree with you that it is better to be more careful with your feet if one wishes to have healthy feet without getting them into trouble. This picture attached to this discussion is a good example to warn people of protecting their feet. Thanks for the discussion and have a good day, youless.

Hiya YLS.,
Those kind of shoes can cause havoc and I have three pairs of them and although they cause a lot of problems I think you can get round it wearing them if you don“t have to walk around a lot and go by car there and back.
Wedges are better than high heels but not much better as the foot and the upper part of you is being thrown forward so you are straining all the tendons in the legs too.
That is one reason why I very rarely wear them but I do like them so much as they flatter you and your feet.
Not very good for dancing in at all I would say at least not for me.xxx

I just have a pair of high heel shoes and that's already enough for me as it killing my feet.(^^) I can't stand wearing high heels, prefer flat shoes than high heels or wedges. I have tried my sister's wedges before- she got many of them but I can't stand long with them on my feet.(^^)

Wearing heels has aesthetic value, yes! But, you're right about the hazard it also brings due to long use.
I'm not a fan of stilettos, wedges, and other high heeled stuff. But, there are occasions when we really need to use a pair. And, the bad thing is, even with just one use, these killer heels can give us a bad ache.

It is really a fact that wearing high heels can lead to medical conditions, especially if worn too often. It can lead to having calluses, heel spur ans it is not advisable with gouty arthritis. It can be glamorous for some occasions, but flat heels can be used for the women who work in offices.

hi youless
You mean the stilettos? Yeah I don't wear because I can barely walk with them. It's not advisable at all especially that I'm a little overweight.
I'm fond of wedge shoes and sandals though, it has height also but at least the support at the heel is wider

I always knew high heels could cause backaches and sore feet, but I wondered if there were any other problems associated with wearing heels. So I did a little research. I was absolutely AMAZED at what I found.
An Australian based study was done on wearing heels and possible health risks. They found women who wear high heels are at risk for PERMANENT damage to their knees, hips, back, and tendons. This damage was sometimes detected in women as young as 25-years-old!
Other findings: Changed gait that stayed even after the heels were removed. Those who wear heels move with shorter, more forceful strides. Their feet are always flexed in a toe-pointed position. As a result, the fibers in the calf muscles shorten and much greater mechanical strain is put on the calf muscles.
Suggestions:
-Women who do wear heels should take them off while driving or sitting at their desk at work.
-Alternate heights. If the tendon doesn't get acclimated to the same height every day, it won't shorten to a specific height.
-Stretch. Every day you wear heels, sit in a chair and use a yoga band or twisted sheet slung around your foot. Pull the band towards you as you stretch your toes forward.
-Use commuter shoes. Use a supportive flat shoe when walking on concrete for any distance. Save high heels for absorbant carpets and cork floors.
-Choose a wedge. The more surface area, the less stress on the ball of the foot. Go with a chunky heel, wedge, or even a platform.
-Add Orthotics: Over-the-counter shoe insoles help make the heel more stable making it easier to walk better.
(reports by Meredith Melnick of the Huffington Post in "High Heels: Worth The Health Risk?" and by Tiani Jones in "Study reveals health risks associated with high heels")
Yikes!!!! I don't think I ever want to wear heels again.
