Hopefully mom is off to the Dr today if he has an opening. She was supposed to go to the eye Dr today but these medications for her ear are making her really sick so she has to cancel. :( Penicillan, allergy pill and ear drops. Sheesh. Does that actually sound like a good combination to you? I don't think she even has an allergy but we have the same Dr and he gave me the allergy stuff (Allegra) when I had a lil bump on my eyelid and I doubt that was an allergy either. I hate misdiagnosises.
Have you ever been misdiagnosed for anything and were there any complicaions?

No, I don't recall ever having had a misdiagnosis. THose can be dangerous. Misdiagnois, the wrong medications, all of those can really make you sick.

Yes they can. Now her Dr took her off the three meds and is giving her something else I'm not too sure of the name right now. He wants to get her more Xrays and stuff but I don't think she needs that. It was all just starting when he gave her all those meds. She said she felt alittle better after she stopped taking them. She did go for one Xray for her stomach today though.

Hopefully they will get it figured out. Sometimes its just old age.

I know that feeling, my doctor went 5 years saying it's in my head. I went to numerous other doctors, and they said nothing can be done. Finally I went to another doctor and got in to see the specialist, when they found out I had colitis. My doctor is doing the same thing for the pains I've been having, instead of digging deeper and trying to find the problem he puts me on different birth control to cover it up.

I just really think these dr's know what they are doing by giving unecessary tests and that is making more $ on the patient. I go through that with my vet for the cat too. I just hope this time when she goes (whenever I can get an appt in) that they don't milk me dry for what I have left as far as $ instead of giving me the right meds, etc for her first hand.

I have a number of medical problems and nobody can diagnose them! I think I would rather be misdiagnosed than have 2 or 3 drs put me through tests and then tell me that don't know what's wrong. I have very bad chest pain a few times a day and after many tests they had no answer for me so I sit here feeling like I'm having a heart attack but I"m not. I'm sorry about your Mother but we have to trust our drs. that doesn't sound like a lot of meds considering it's her ear. Maybe one of them will help eventually.

I don't think she needs the allergy pill, right now anyways. She did tell him the ear thing started after her fall afterall, then the antibiotics might be reacting on her badly as they do sometimes have lousy side effects. I have once or twice even told my Dr not to give that to me cause the side effects would have started another problem for me, cause I know my body and have heard it could have. She said she thought she was having some pain in her chest this morning so that is what is worrying me most right now, and the fact her stomach is still bothering her after several days of taking the medication. Maybe the combination of them somehow is being the culprit, it doesn't always take a ton of meds to make one sick.
