I have been thinking about this for a little while now. My resolutions are always the same. To lose weight and get skinny. The tail end of this year my priorities have shifted some and Id like to expand that goal. I want a total dietary makeover for starters. The things I tend to eat are very tasty and addicting, but they are extremely fattening. And with my body chemistry the way it is, even just a little bit of these foods and I blow up five pounds. I am going to focus on a more natural diet. WAY less processed foods. I already eat less but I am thinking that may not be the best thing. I should eat just a few small meals a day rather than one really late at night, which is what I do currently. Im also going to incorporate some powerhouse foods into my diet and hope to make myself healthier. One of these is chia seeds. They give you so much energy it is ridiculous how much energy these little things give you. Throw them in a smoothie and you'll never know they are there. I am also going to be getting more active. I have never been really inactive except during the winter months. I broke my leg and have arthritis in it so the cold is hard on me. Spring through fall seasons though, I am always out and about. This year I live in a mountain community so I look forward to be out even more! My overall goal isn't really to lose weight by years end. Its to get healthier and to stop being so foggy and tired all the time. By doing these things, I should as a natural byproduct, lose weight and be a much happier and healthier, more energetic me! And that is my New Years goal!

I want to do mostly the same things you mentioned. However, my aim is to not really get skinny or lose weight, but to live healthier. Processed food is really a bad habit to break. Since it is accessible and easy, and i have a very busy schedule, I want to try harder to break off from it. I also like sweets a lot as well as starchy food so I guess I will have to try my best to steer away from it. I like veggies but for some reason, my country has very limited vegetable varieties and recipes. I guess I'll try learning how to cook so I can prepare my own meals and apply on the spices in amounts I deem appropriate. In terms of activity, I like walking and I walk around the campus a lot and the buildings are quite far from each other. I also saw this 10-minute video routine on Youtube. My friend lost 20 pounds last year by doing this everyday so I will try my best to do it everyday too. It seems like it's really good for the body too since you'll be sweating quite a lot. It is a mix of tiring and non-tiring exercises. Here's to hoping we live healthier next year!

I want to find the time ot og jogging on the wiifit plus and to do the yoga again as I am now feeling very unfit and stiff in the joints which is very bad as I'm used ot being very supply. My weight is fine as I watch what I eat and only eat healthy foods and enjoy salads and my veggies. Good luck and keep us posted on how you get along in the new year.

Hopefully, you can make the shift to a healthier diet. However, it isn't going to be a quick and easy shift if you have been eating a lot of heavily processed foods and still are describing them as "tasty." I am hoping that 2013 will see us owning our own home and/or move to another neighborhood or neighboring town. There are some issues with where we currently are; some can, at least in theory, be remedied. Others are far beyond either our control or that of our landlords, though. Obviously, even though we do eat quite a few veggies and fruits, I want to increase our fruit and vegetable intake even more. Of course, that will likely mean having a CSA share again.

I believe thinking of healthy habits and having a healthy lifestyle needs commitment and effort too. I am not thinking of healthy habits but now I do a lot. I am not familiar with the chia seeds. I always prepare healthy smoothies and vegetables salads now. I also want to learn to use the bike or engage in some sports activities that can be fun at the same time as a form of exercise.

I never believe in any resolutions . If i want to do something i will make up mind and decide it nay time. I don't wait for any special time to arrive to decide anything. This resolution thing never works for me. But yes i agree it works for many and i have seen such people. I hope you lose your weight and fulfill your wish.

That is a good thing. We all know a resolution is an excuse to procrastinate until the new year doing what we should be doing all along. lol. Dang holiday foods get in the way.

It's not exactly for the new year, I just like beginning a new phase at the start of the new month... I did not treat myself very well this year - fell into depression, blah blah - and I gained about ten pounds and became very inactive and weak, so I'm fixing that starting January: South Beach diet and daily exercise or activity. Seemingly simple as that! I want to get back my flatter stomach and muscle - I liked my girly two pack :D.

Yeah that is not all that dissimilar from my experience. I was in a very bad place at the beginning of this year. And now I am in a much better place and looking forward to getting my stuff together even more in the coming year!

Next year is the first year I have income. So I have planned to have a vip card for the swimming pool, so that I can go to swimming at least once a week. I hope that can help me lose weight and keep my body in a good shape. Aslo I have planned to have an oversea travel in the next summer with my mother, my ideal place is Korean. I will also have a good sleep every night, do not work over time and spend more time with my family to make me happy.

I really don't do new years resolutions. I just try to get an idea of what I want and work towards it. This time, my goal is to get back to my old self. In the past year or so, I have gone through a lot of stress which impacted my body in a bad way. I barely eat, has gone through a dramatic weight loss, and have gotten weaker. Now it doesn't mean I am sick, but I am not at my strongest either. At my biggest, I was 5'9" and 353 pounds. Yeah, a big guy, and was insanely strong. I liked the size because felt the most comfortable, I was doing things that normally took two or more people, and I didn't get sick or injured as often. On the flip side, I did stop playing football because I was too strong for the other people, to the point where I was hurting them, and because I ate a lot of food all the time, it was a huge expense. I was eating enough for a family. To be honest, I like having that appetite. Even though I was a small gorilla, I was still able to do things like run, ride a bike, jump, which probably came from all of that football. It's funny, I lost 60 pounds, but my body feels terrible. The weight didn't come off right, because I didn't plan the weight loss. I rather be a monster bulldozer anyway. How I plan to tackle this weightlifting scheme is to find a gym that has heavy weights, buy another bike, do more stuff outdoors (cold weather doesn't bother me), and find the right combination of food and supplements to regain my appetite for fuel, despite being able to out eat a family. The last time I lost a lot of weight, I worked on rebuilding my body and put on more than what I had lost, but I was much stronger. If my body remembers what it is doing and how to do it, it will gain more weight than what was lost (hopefully as muscle). If there is one word to sum up my plan, it is to become a monster.

Hi Tanny, This holiday season, I'm allowing myself to indulge in the one thing that I like best, that is, food. I want to enjoy this happiest time of the year where celebrations and parties are everywhere and food abound. I know that the downside of this is that I'll gain extra weight (probably a lot of it). By January, I'll go back to running and jogging and at least 30 minutes of exercise, stay away from sinful edible stuff and go back to my diet to shed those unwanted fats. Hopefully, I'll have the will and determination to do this and not make excuses to not do it.

It is definitely a good thing for us to work on our health. I hope to do better in eating healthier. I would like to eat more fruits and vegetables. And to limit my intake of meat. We do feel better when we take care of our health. I hope that you are able to reach your goals.

haha,we have the same resolution. Now I am trying not to eat too much and do exercise.Actually ,it is not easy for me to lose weight, because I am easy to get fat.And since I was in my middle school,my weight was always over 50 kilograms. So I just can do my best to lose weight. One of my colleagues also has the same problem. Her weight was just 45 kilograms when she was in her college, while now,two years after graduation, her weight is 60 kilograms.Every time when she looks at herself, she has so many regrets. She also decides to be on a diet.At least she should lose her elephant legs. Now my colleague and I have become a combination"Lose Weight".Lol.it is a little funny, right?

you are totally right about being more concerned about a healthier life than about toturing ourselves with too many restrictions about food intake. Enjoy food with balance and stay active and positive
