When I use to put up a large live tree, I would often say it took me so long decorateing it that I was leaving it up til June...LOL...but I didn't.. I normally leave it up until after the New Year. But I am leaving right after the New Year,so I am going to leave it up and see if my son decides on his own to take it down and put it away...Its just a three footer and it slides right back in the box after you take the bulbs and light off of it...But i think I will do that and see if he will... But when do you take your' down????

I have Christmas decorations I don't go all out, I have my tree, and small things. I normally have the stockings, and the small decorations down and in the box on Christmas day. I then put the tree away my next free day, which is usually a week or two.

Well I will say that we have taken most of ours down already, as I feel that after Christmas day is over then there is no need for it to stay up. I will say that I have kept one tree up and the reason for this is that with all the things, as well as people that came today I have not worried about asking anyone to take it down for me.

I usually keep mine up until New Year's Day. I might take it down over the weekend this year, though, so I can get a running start toward cleaning the house and getting some projects started. It seems a shame to put it up just to take it down, I agree!

I like to keep it up until the new year. But because our living room is small and the way our living room is situated, the tree blocks the TV on one of our couches, the one my girlfriend likes to sit. So even though I slid the tv over and she sits way over, she said she wants it down the day after christmas, so I took it down today.

It depends. If we put lights up we quite often leave them up for a month or two after CHristmas. Especially if there is snow and they look good out there. We have an apartment so decorations inside are put up pretty quickly. In order not to get them broken I like to put my old ornaments away as soon as I have the time.

I see afew houses around here that have their lights up year round and just turn them on for the holidays. I think that is rather smart. And then they can just add decorations as they see fit.

I am happy I don't put up outside decorations because it is so cold, they would stay there for months...It really cold here...

hi bjc oh this reminds me of the year my hubby and the old man across the street had a bet as to who would leave their christmas tees up the longest. It was Valentines da y when the old man across the street's wife asked me to please take our tree down as she w as afraid the darned tree they had was so dry it would catch on fire. So I asked my husband to help; me take the decorations off then dispose of the tree before the neighbors tree accidently caused a fire. They took theirs down first then my hubby said oh stick it in the fireplace and burn it up. Oh my gosh I owe my son who was 13 at the time a lot as I had stuck the trie in on top; fo a goind fire in the fireplace then gone to the restroom. He yelled to me"mom help the trees making the mantel burn." I quickly pulled up my pants and dashed to the kitchen with a glass of water and he grabbed a large pitcher of water and got the flames out. Luckily the only thing that burned was the middle of a small tapestry that I loved. My hubby was the one to cut out the burned area and sewed it together. It did not look too bad. But that episode made me so careful of old christmas trees. Do not try to burn them in a fire place. They are like incendiary bombs as the trunk has still got that sap in it thats sort of explosive. Thats the reason pine tees in a forest fire burn so rapidly.

Normally I keep my tree up until the day after New Year's Day but I took it down today. My cats actually left it alone for a week or so but when I came downstairs this morning I found that the cats had been playing with the decorations overnight. There were 5 decorations on the floor, so rather than have the cats ruin my tree and break the decorations, we took it down.

Usually we remove our Christmas decorations after the feast of the three kings which happens on the 6th of January. But I guess by now, I have to remove my decorations and put down my Christmas a little earlier or even before the new year comes. It's because my kittens are starting to climb up on the tree and bite all the ribbons and laces on it. They even play with the Christmas balls and my tree is starting to look bare. So I guess before my kittens break the entire tree, I should be removing it by myself now.

I had to check when Kings Day is because a mylotter stated it was Jan10 and you stated Jan 6rh...But I guess either date you still have a few days... But I would think that the kittens might get some of your\ ornaments in their mouth and that would not be good,,So maybe the sooner you dismantle your tree the better...LOL.. have a great New York....
