Having an odd but healthy breakfast

My breakfast for today - This is what I am having for breakfast.

My breakfast is not a conventional one for sure, but it is what I want. I am eating 1 cup of cranberry beans, which are similar to pinto beans. I'm also having 8 ounces if tomato juice and a large cup of black tea, sweetened with Sweet and Low. My WW point value for my breakfast is 5 points. Do you eat traditional breakfasts like bacon and eggs and toast, or cereal? Or do you sometimes have a taste for something way off the beaten track for breakfast? I took in a lot of sugar and fat calories. I also got a lot of salt in my body from indulging. I knew I should only eat a vegetable plate and not indulge in all the wonderful tasting foods. I gained 17 pounds in just a few days with fat and water weight. It is hampering my breathing too. Your thoughts?

I have a lot of different things for breakfast. Yesterday it was a turkey sandwich. Sometimes I have eggs and toast, other times just toast, sometimes toast and turkey bacon. More often, though, I just eat leftovers. On rare occasion I'll have hot cereal. I gained a little weight over the holidays, too, but that nearly always happens. I just have to work to get it back down now.

I've never put stuffing on a turkey sandwich, but I always eat turkey with mayonnaise. Interesting... maybe I'll try it.

As soon as I start baking and cooking I start gaining. the salt is the main culprit. I love turkey sandwiches. Have you ever out turkey stuffing on a turkey sandwich with mayo? Yummy!

I eat whatever is quick, and sometimes it is definitely non traditional. It sounds like you are trying to flush your system. I know I have had way too much sugar and fat lately but I do not seem to have gained. I hope you clear up soon. Sometimes what we really want tends to be what is healthy for us.

I felt like that at Thanksgiving, but we did not do much as far as food goes for Christmas. I did make lots of cookies and hubby made fudge. I have been taking soup for my work meals and drinking lots of water, and I sure feel better than I did at Thanksgiving. You are a good inspiration.

Yes I am trying to flush my system. In trying to get that 54 ounce glass if water empty before going to bed tonight. I feel some better today. Christmas Day I felt really bloated. I didn't like how I felt. I got sick on the butter pecan ice cream, but u didn't feel really well before then. U felt too big for my skin cause if the fluid retention.

Whatever works for you, as long as you do have breakfast. The prevailing wisdom is to get most of your calories earlier rather than later in the day. I like hot apple pie for breakfast but today I just had toast. And three cups of tea.

I had hot apple pie yesterday for breakfast with a slice of cheese melted on it. Yummy! I ate it like that cause my grandfather ate apple pie that way. It's so good. Now I need to watch what I eat now to get this holiday weight off.

Hubby leaves for work super early - so he just grabs something from the fruit bowl for his commute. On a school day, the kids get cereal, or oatmeal, or cream of wheat - sometimes an egg with that. Me - I get whatever I can scrounge . . . I might quickly eat the kids breakfast leftovers or I might grab something from the fridge (even if it's a piece of cheese) . . . anything goes during the morning rush of trying to get out of the house in time for the kids to make it to school!! But during weekends we try to make a bigger production out of breakfast . . . hubby might make pancakes or waffles - and always a meat with it - like sausage or bacon (maybe ham or kielbasa), whatever we have). The kids are on break for another week and a half . . . let m me tell you I've been eating way too much all day everyday thus far - so making some New Years resolutions will be a must - ha ha. Happy holidays to you, PQ . . . I haven't been around much . . . so hopefully in the New Year! Happy eating too, even if it's not traditional!!

Hi Much2Say! I bet you look forward to the weekends so the pace can be a little slower. I sometimes take the time to pre-make my meal so I can have it when I want it. I did that with lunch. When I get paid in gonna get some oatmeal packets do I can have it when I want it. I just put the coffee maker on with just water and make my oatmeal. When I'm ready to eat, it's the oerfect eating temperature for me.

Oh, I can't even imagine eating that one, lol but if it's healthy then go for it. During breakfast I usually eat rice and other stuff then water, I don't even drink milk and veggies every morning. I gained weight because I consume foods with high calories and carbohydrates. I should try that one too very soon if I can take it. Good day.

The beans are very tasty. My daughter loves them too. I like hot sauce in them but I don't have any right now. I need to flush my body if all the bad stuff I ate.

I love traditional breakfast foods like bacon and eggs, biscuits and gravy and things like that, but I don't normally eat breakfast. I have a hard time eating first thing when I wake up, so my breakfast usually happens around lunch time or later and I eat something more like lunch food. I will sometimes do breakfast for dinner to get my traditional breakfast food fix.

I rarely eat what would be considered a traditional breakfast. I pretty much grab whatever seems appealing at the time--whether that be leftover pizza or garlic smashed potatoes. Also, I often am not in the mood for sticky sweet breakfast foods in the morning. My stomach is not always awake enough for pancakes with syrup or other such foods.

hi dear PQ, that breakfast sounds good, what did you season the beans with? I dont like tomato juice so I guess I would add a small can of stewed tomatoes to the beans when cooking, plus lots of cayenne powder or diced jalapenos to make them spicy.

What an interesting breakfast you have! When you say the WW points are 5, I suspect you refer to Weight Watchers? I eat a very boring breakfast...just different cereals which I alternate or otherwise some toast with a cup of ceylon tea. I am never really hungry breakfast time but I eat breakfast as they say that it is the most important meal of the day. So, you seem to be starting your day in the right way!

Never heard of cranberry beans before. Normally I don't have a big breakfast, or I feel ill the rest of the day. I normally have a granola bar on the run with water or orange juice. Sometimes I have toast and peanut butter. I do have some individual packages of oatmeal I try to have a few a week.

I am trying my best to have a healthy diet but it's hard to get rid of junk food during that time of the month. This morning I prepared brown rice, sunny side up egg, fried dried squid and a cup of Yogurt milk.I wanted to buy a cheap juicer to I can prepare fresh juice but it seems expensive that I need to save money to get one lols.

Generally my breakfast is four slices of bread and a cup of tea and this is more than sufficient for me. But when i was in my training in another city,i used to take Indians breakfast specially South indian breakfasts like Dosa,Idali etc.One of the main reason for taking such breakfast is i feel refreshed after eating them and can work without any problems.
