I have been doing it before but because nothing much to talk about my life that i have stopped doing so. But because lately I have been more busy with things that's worth remembering so i just plan to continue with this habit. Because of the coming wedding of my brother that I'm doing a lot of things. So i would have lots to write about on my journal on my part in helping for that wedding.

I have kept a journal since I was a teenager. I don't write in it every day but when something happens I want to keep track of or when it is emotional and needs to be thought out. I think it is very good for a person to keep one. I also write down ideas and things I want to remember for my writing.

I remember as a teen.. I'd want to write in a journal so bad...but never had anything to say! Now.. I don't write in my own, but I am keeping one for each of my grand daughters...telling them about things we did and how they have grown etc. I plan to give them to them on their wedding day or off to college day or something like that. I know they will enjoy reading them! I wish I had one from my own life! keep one for yourself...no matter what you do or don't say or write about...you won't regret it!

That is a cool idea with the journal for your grandkids. Their sweet sixteen might be nice too. For girls their sweet sixteen is a sort of right of passage time. I wish you would have written in one of your own all those times you wished you had one. THen by now you'd have alot in one. I have some cool memories in my old ones from when I was dating and partying and my daughter was a teen. My BFF came to stay for several months and I have all we did in a journal as well. Good times.

From the instant I could hold a crayon, I was trying to scrawl out stories. I have always been a writer. However, I have never been much of one to keep any sort of journal or diary. I have tried a few times, but it simply does not work for me. I express more of myself within my other forms of writing that I simply have never had any real use for diary-keeping.

My (now) 12 yo grand daughter has also been writing since she could write the letters. She loves writing stories..might have a great author in the family! When I used to take her to and from school...starting in first grade when she could write, I'd spell the words and she'd write them down. She'd sit in the back seat and it took us about 20 minutes to get to school and she'd tell me what she wanted to say and I'd spell words etc. I got her a special book, decorated it etc and it was left in the car and every day, she'd write...about horses, adventures, fairies, her little puppy and on it went. She still writes her stories, but now....she has a folder on the PC and types them! But..she still carries a notebook when she know she will be riding somewhere and write while she travels. I have a few of her books and the stories are amazing for her age, and such great memories for me.

Coffeebreak, now would be a good time to start helping her find kid-friendly markets for her stories. She is old enough to start publishing her work if the writing is well developed.

There is a free site called, "my-diary.org"... You can make it public or private... I've been writing ideas & other personal journals since December of 2003... Every so often, I look back on things & wonder how I survived but I guess that's whole new discussion, lol... It's a pretty good site & it's completely free...

I stopped writing on my journal many years ago. I now write many things online. Mylot is my personal journal, if you think about..lol. The reason why stopped writing was because my brothers never knew when to mind their own business. I also, didn't want my mother to go through my things and find out about stuff, you know...first kiss and boyfriends.

I also keep my own diary for these years. It reminds us what happened to us, and can help us to remember the passed times. I think it is a good habit, just keep on it, you have achieve a lot.

Hello hotsummer! I love writing in a journal. I have a journal for more than ten years and I exchange it with a close friend. I stopped because I think it has not been healthy for me. Iwrite mostly of my pains, anger and angst in life than my happy thoughts. Besides, that good friend who I had been exchanging journal with had been busy with her own life. Good thing I had found myLot. I just put my writngs here and I like that my thoughts are being responded! So,I will be here in myLot as long as I can. Happy New Year and Happy Lotting.

Writing in a journal is a great idea. It will help you to reflect on your day and even solve problems. Sometimes just the act of writing will help you to create new ideas. A wedding? I love weddings. You will have a lot to write about then if you are writing about a wedding. Have fun.
