Do you get more $ when you start a discussion?

The number in brackets has NOTHING to do with your earnings. It is called your User Rating and represents (roughly) the number of discussions you have been involved in. It doesn't increase when you start a discussion because it isn't yet a discussion until it has at least one response and a reply/comment (or two responses).

MyLot calculates earnings based on the QUALITY of your participation AS A WHOLE over 24 hours, midnight to midnight according to the time shown at the bottom of the page ("MyLot time"). Earnings cannot, therefore, be updated until after this and they are generally updated between 8am and 11am on the following day (according to MyLot Time).
"MyLot time" (actually, the time of day in Kansas - Central US Time) is 6 hours behind GMT.

the number beside your name is reflecting how many posts you have made in mylot. it should change every time you start a discussion cos discussion is a post. the number will also increase every time you give response to one's discussion. the number of your post means something. if you have reached 200 post you will be able to use mylot codes or icons or smileys (i hope you ever saw one or some of those codes), and if your post have reached 500 you will be able to do copy-paste. fun, isnt it? :)
the earning will be refreshed in 24 hours. i dunno how to seize it in GMT but yeah it takes 24 hours to refresh the earning. if you start discussion in the morning, you may get your earning in the evening on next day. i hope you dont bother with this method cos worrying about earning will reduce the excitement of mylotting..lol..

The money we get depends on the participation and how much descriptive you are . The number after your name represents your activity (responses and discussions).
The number is only increased after you do at least one comment.

I would say that you do have a higher chance of making more money when you start a discussion because you can comment on all the responses you get which can really give you a lot of comments that you can write. It all depends on how good your discussion is because that will give you more responses from other users that you can comment on.

i think we can have same opportunity if only give responses not start discusion. if you give qualified responses to one's discussion, you may earn well too. and try to keep reply back e ery time you get reply from the owner of the discussion. dont forget that mylot is a discussion site so we are seized not only in how good our writing is but also in how good our participation is. keep replying means that we are active and well participated in a discussion..
BTW, your name is jambi, it reminds me to one of city names in my country. i was so sure in the beginning that you must come from Indonesia due to your nick name. but i was so wrong cos when i checked to your profile, it is written that you are from America..lol..

of course. it neans that you are active or welm-participated on your own discussion. your comment for my response is counted. if you reply to responses you got, the number beside your nickname wont be increased but still you will be paid. based on my experience, if we always reply all responses we get, we'll receive better earning cos mylot is a discussion site so not only our posts will be paid but our participation in discussion. so try to reply every response you get. if they reply back try to reply again. and so forth. it will increase your earning better than if we give response to one's discussion. good luck..! #thumb..

Thank you for the response, but i have one question.Do i get some extra eartnings for those posts under yours? Earning money isn't the only reasons i'm here, but is a thing i have to find out how works here for sure.This seems like cool place.Thanks

Well i think your earning depend on your discussion response rather than discussions started. And my lot sees your performance keeping in mind your overall performance. So keep responding and also opening a new discussion, whatever you do here keeping in mind the guidelines you are going to earn well

Hi enigma!
It doesn't matter if you start your own discussion or just reply to others' discussions. What is important is the quality of your post. The only thing good for starting new discussion is that since you started it, you would probably more knowledge about the subject matter and it would be easier for you to make a reply and you wouldn't be jumping from one discussion to another.
But personally, when it comes to earning concern, it's okay for me whichever activity I gave more focus in a day as long as the quality of the post is there.
