How are you doing with your New Year's resolutions?

Well, the holidays are officially over now, and it's back to normal life. Many of us made New Year's resolutions last week, with every intention of keeping them, but....sometimes our best intentions just aren't enough! I made three New Year's resolutions: write something every day, exercise a little bit every day, and stop snacking before bedtime. Well, I've written every day (so far) and have exercised every day (so far), but not doing so well with the snacking thing--I get so hungry at bedtime! So I have still been snacking a bit. Oh well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad, as they say! How about you? What resolutions have you made, and have you kept them so far?

I didn't write any resolutions on the paper but I know what I need to do to enhance my well being in my every days life. I do hoping and pray that I can really change myself this year into something that I gonna tell myself that I improved a lot in next year. So far today, I think I'm starting to progress, I think it is important not to force yourself suddenly if your not used into the change that you want, just do it little by little, the most important here is the process and the progress your making along the way, I think you can still go snacking but give some schedule when you can't snack or you can half it, just suggesting... :D Anyway, let's do our best with our resolutions! Fighting! and God Bless you...

Very good approach, I think...the process you use to make changes in your life really does impact how well you will succeed. As for me, I am trying to "snack" earlier in the evening, to avoid snacking right before bed...it's a start! Good luck with your goals as well, and have a great year!

And same with you along with your resolution, just give your best shot and definitely you will enjoy reaping the fruits of hardships. :)

Sounds like you are doing good with your resolutions, and they sound like reasonable/feasible resolutions at that. I feel like people shoot for the stars with their resolutions. Everyone I know says they are going to quit smoking cold-turkey, they will lose like 30+ pounds, and do all this blah blah blah that is totally unrealistic. I had quit smoking back in November and started up again on the 1st. How's that for ironic? I'm going to try to quit again though starting this morning actually. I have goals but I didn't make any new years resolutions specifically. I'd like to get out of credit card debt, to have a 4.0 average, maybe to lose a little weight, and to start saving up for a new car. Best of luck with continuing your resolutions!

Same to you! Yours sound like reasonable and attainable goals as well. In my humble opinion--the most important one is to stop smoking. I know it is also the hardest, but it the end, it will be worth it! And if maintain a 4.0 average, I am SURE you will be able to get out of credit card debt and save up for your car as well! Best of luck this year....

Mine are not so much resolutions but more goals and resolutions put together...if that makes any sense, lol! I need to move really bad, so I'm putting away money out of my SS check to do this and will not spend it for fun stuff. I have already cleared out my closets, which was a task in itself. I didn't want my son-in-laws moving a bunch of stuff that I just don't use anymore. I was going to sell them on Ebay, but I need a car. Which is my OTHER resolution/goal. I'm saving for that also, and so far so good. It all takes time, haha, especially when you're on a fixed income. But, I'll do it because I'm set on it. You just couldn't imagine the items I gave to the thrift store today. My daughter and son-in-law helped me take them and I'm sooooo relieved to get them out of my sight! Now the moving will be easier. I also have other goals but those 2 are the most important. I'll get there because I'm determined.

That's wonderful--that you have made goals for yourself and you are working towards them. Clearing out clutter and saving money are both difficult, but since both will get you to your ultimate goals of getting a new car and moving, you are wise to focus on the "steps" you need to take to accomplish your goals. Best of luck to you...

I only made one New Year's resolution: eat healthy food everyday and avoid candy, chips, cakes, soft drinks and similar things. The first days went well. I ate lots of vegetables and I didn't touch the sweet things. After 5 days I decided to modify my New Year's resolution, and cut back on sweet things instead of quitting them completely I have decided that I am allowed to eat sweet things in the weekend and I have to avoid them the rest of the week. This time I won't break my New Year's resolution

I think it's perfectly fine to modify your New Year's resolution if it's not working perfectly--after all, that's better than breaking it! And I think it is harder to give up something you like completely than it is to cut back. Good luck on your NEW New Year's resolution!

I don't tend to be the kind of person that actually makes New Year's Resolutions because that has been something that has always been an epic fail for me. However, I did state one thing at the beginning of the year that I really wanted to accomplish for our family this year and that was to work to make it so that our family is in a better financial situation. So far I've not really been able to see a difference, but that is because this year is only a week old. I will be able to see as each and every week passes that I'm starting to do better for our family's financial situation.

I actually think long-term goals are better than resolutions--you are more likely to stick to them, and don't get as discouraged if you have a minor set-back. I wish you all the best with your goal this year--sounds like you are already on the right track. I actually think 2013 is going to be a better year than 2012 was for most people--maybe it was the whole "end-of -the-year" thing, but 2012 really seemed to be a difficult year for almost everyone I know. Best of luck this year!

I stopped creating new year resolutions since not completing them anyway. I just create goals for myself and achieve them instead. This doesn't give me the excuse to wait for another year just to create change for myself. Most people do this, you know. They slack off, for example, then wait for next year to change that attitude. They could achieve change or vice versa, but the thing is, there's time being wasted waiting for next year just to set your goals. Why not complete it now, right? I guess this would be better off for another discussion. Nice to know that you have some kind of a mission to fulfil this year. I'm sure you wont fail yourself on it.

Thanks for the vote of confidence--I am not sure I will be able to keep them, but I am trying...I do have goals throughout the year as well, but I always think about things I would like to change or do better in the future, and New Year's seems as good a time as any to start making changes...but you are right, it is an excuse to put off making the changes until Jan. 1, and then forgetting about them a few months into the year...

I started exercising not to lose weight, but just to get my fitness level up around a month before new year and I promised that I wouldn't stop as soon as I got in shape. So far i'm still getting some cardio in everyday and am very proud of myself ! :) I motivate myself by saying everyday that I won't be that person that breaks their resolution within the first month :P

Good for you! I know exactly what you mean--we should really try to get past January at least before giving up on our resolutions! of course, we'll have to come up with a new motivator for February...lol!
