instead of calling you by your name? I did. When I went abroad to work there it was when I first experienced to be called newbie. My co-workers which are also Filipinos would address me and my other co-workers who have just newly arrived in Saudi Arabia as newbies. It irritated me hearing it coz com'on we have names and when we arrived there we introduced our selves so why call us such title/label and not by our names? I was feeling insulted everytime, even if sometimes I was not the one they were referring on their conversation. Yeah I was so sensitive that time. But now no more since I learned to make money online, to be called newbie no longer affect me. It doesnt matter at all, what matter most now is where youll be heading to from being a newbie.

it's better to be the underdog. i don't care if somebody else calls me a newbie. there's one time, i was newly employed in one of the best studios in manila. i'm the youngest there, so i still have to accept that i have to follow the seniors. but my skill level surpasses all of the employees there.

It really works good if we stay humble and just do our best and prove our worth. Hey! how come my discussion became about horses??

from wikipedia "A dark horse is a little-known person or thing that emerges to prominence, especially in a competition of some sort[1] or a contestant that seems unlikely to succeed." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_horse from thefreedictionary "someone or something whose abilities, plans, or feelings are little known to others. (From a race horse about which little or nothing is known.) It's difficult to predict who will win the prize—there are two or three dark horses in the tournament. Everyone was surprised at the results of the election. The dark horse won." http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/dark+horse that's why i prefer being called a "dark horse" than an "underdog."

Sometimes. It depends on how they say 'newbie' Some people would say it in a negative and degrading way. But I think this should not upset us. Everyone starts from a beginning. No one starts out being very good at something. Things like this should motivate us to become better and improve on our skills.

In most cases this newbie calling lasts in days only. Once our colleagues remember our name, they would feel better calling us our name. Nevertheless we should never stop improving ourselves :)

Yes, let us think of this as challenge, not an insult. Having a positive view about it will really help us help ourselves more.

I am not really offended when somebody call me "Newbie". You have work experience as I guess. You must be confidence about yourself. Do not bother your co-workers. Just do your work or best. I wish you luck.

I think nobody will call me newbie because if you see my total number of post I already reaching more than 6,000. It's not a big deal if you are newbie or veterans as long as you follow the guidelines of the site. Some veterans maybe forgot the guidelines and we can consider them as newbie. If I am called newbie because I mislook the guidelines, well it's fine for me. No hurt feelings at all.

Exactly, why we care them, they didn't even care about us. We have separate path so as long as I am doing find with myself unto others no problem at all.

That's not a right way to address somebody even if the other person is a new one. Everyone is a new one when he or she starts. I think these type of people just wanna show off their experience on newones. If they call them newbie everytime then definitely it irritates the other person. Why don't they speak them with their names

Definitely! Who would like anyway to be addressed newbie instead of your name? As in "Newbie did like this like that blah blah blah" instead of saying "Johnny did like this like that blah blah blah".

It would be rude to call one a newbie forever. It would be a lot nicer to call people by their names, that's what names are for.

I do not know that I have ever been called a newbie. However, it is true that it is not very nice to call people by descriptions rather than by their given names. I think it is more offensive if we have less confidence.

I agree with you GardenGerty. We people just becoming sensitive if we dont know yet our self worth but if we know ourselves better we wont really care that much of what other people may think or say on us.

You are right GardenGerty. Some people might get offended pretty hard, and that would not help create a good working atmosphere.

I agree. What is important is what you can prove as a newbie so being called newbie doesn't really matter. I would be irritated if I was called newbie in a condescending way. But if spoken in a friendly and supportive way then I won't be offended.

The only time that I've ever been offended when someone has called me a newbie is when I've been wrongly called a newbie. The reason that I don't find any kind of offense in being called a newbie is because of the fact that I am still learning the ropes when I am new to a site or to a job and someone knowing that I am a newbie means that other people will be more likely to show you the ropes, whether it is the ropes of a new job or a new site that you are playing on.

Actually being a newbie isnt negative but how the others would use it to address or call you. That instead of using your first name in the sentence they would substitute it with the term newbie, but being a newbie isnt bad at all. all of us starts from step one in anything in this world. I just believe it should not be used as a substitute of your name.

It really depends the perception of one person being called a newbie. You shouldn't be affected when you are being called newbie. What I don't like the most is when your are being called in a bullying name.

If they are just making jokes every now and then, but at the same time, they are nice and helpful and they care about me, I take it as a joke, and like it. But if they don't even call me my name and act superior, I hate it so much. Every worker needs respect!

I don't feel bad if someone will call me of such. When I joined this site, one of the members told me being a newbie. I took it positively and continue doing my concern on this site. Some people might be too sensitive, we just be ourselves.

Yeah instead of taking it seriously and negative let it just inspire you to strive well. Its not worth to stress yourself just because you were called newbie..At least when you are a newbie it means improvement and accomplishment has yet to come.

It really hurts when somebody calls me a newbie. Especially when I am an expert in that field. Yeah I also knew nothing about online job when I first started. But now I know many new and interesting things that others don't know. It really makes me proud. The people around me no longer make fun of me.

hi there ally12, i was once tagged as newbie before and quite surprised since they didn't bother to call me by my first name. though they knew my name. but, i just ignored it and don't mind it at all. as long as i get the respect that i am expecting. however, as time goes by, they have learned eventually to addressed me at my first name. so that tagged has been changed.
