Is there any other dance teachers out there on MyLot?

I am in my 40th year of teaching, semi-retired. I was a dancer, turned teacher and love it. It's my passion. I teach many forms, ballet, jazz, contemporary, acrobatics, tap, and ballroom. Of course, at my age, I don't dance much, but still love to move. Here is my husband and I, at a family wedding. We are both semi-retired. We work part-time, still, to keep busy.

I took dance in middle school, my parents thought it would be a good thing to have, even if the only teacher in town was a rabid Republican. I learned to dance, but can't really remember too much. But I recently connected with an old classmate on FB and reminded him that we used to dance there. He said he hadn't thought about that in years. I rode horses with one of his daughters and my sister was friends with the next older one. I ran into him after I was out of college. Ya know, I wasn't very pretty as a young teen when I took classes with him and he only paid attention to the pretty ones - I got his attention then! 18-25 were my best looking years...

I bet if you took class, again, it would come all back! I teach many adults who start dancing, as adults or come back to it.

You may be right, it might come back, but only if I could stand/walk/dance as long as I would need to, and with my bad feet, I don't think I even want to try.

That's really cool. I hope you were nicer than the woman on Dance Moms! Is that even the name of that show? Over on Lifetime, that is.

Oh, much better! LOL I don't like those methods. She is well-known in the business, though, and much of that is made up for tv. Even so, I believe, like being a parent, in being firm but loving. A good teacher is a guide on the side and not a dictator.
