Lampard For Man United?

January 8, 2013 10:52am CST
Reports have surfaced today linking Chelsea legend Frank Lampard with a move to EPL rivals Man United. Benitez sees no future for him at the Bridge but Fergie obviously thinks otherwise. Is Benitez a fool to let him go? Is it not worth Rafa re-considering the fact that the, far more, decorated manager Alex Ferguson thinks so highly of Frank -after all United are 1st and Chelsea are a rather distant 3rd in the EPL as I write. If he DOES go to United will Lampard come back to haunt the Blues?

If Lampard were to go to play for Manchester United, it will be a huge boost to the Red Devils as the midfield has been the area where they have had problems to get someone to dictate the play. I welcome the move as a Manchester United fan. As for Lampard's Chelsea contract. I don't think Rafa has the authority to make decision on that. I think I read somewhere that Rafa had expressed his view that he "hoped" Lampard would stay. But the decision is made by his Russian boss.

I think Rafa has more power than we may think -he did sign Demba Ba and his debut was a great success with 2 goals. Man united will definitely lose Scholes and most probaly Giggs at the end of this season, so Lampard will be a great makeweight for the void left by those two legends. He is 34 but advances in sports nutrition, training and science mean that he is probably equivalent to someone of 28/29 a few years ago. I think Rafa has made a big mistake -but I don't mind as long as the EPL title stays in the North West and away from London!

I really do not think that Roman Abramovich would let a supposedly temporary manager to draw the blueprint that may impact Chelsea for at least the next five years. Given the history of Abramovich's intervention in club and field matters even during the times of the more successful managers like José Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti. I think Demba Ba's signing was also approved by the owner with recommendation by Rafa. I agree that Lampard still has a few years' of top football in him. If he were to really join Manchester United, the next few seasons we may see a more powerful Manchester United that could swept aside all the other teams including the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

I really dont understand those Coaches that want the club legend to leave the Club, if you remember Lampard have sweared to his Father or Mother i dont know that he will never leave Chelsea. Benitez is not the right coach for Chelsea i think Chelsea will bid in summer Guardiola to be their Coach and if Pep accepts the offer Lampard will stay at Chelsea because Pep respect legends and he would give Lampard right minutes to play. And for the news that say that Lampard gone join Man Utd i think that are all false, by the way newspaper made these things just to increase their sales.

If the bookies are anything to go by -and they are not usually far wrong - then Guardiola will go to Bayern Munich. This was a shock to me that the German club were such hot favourites to land him after all the hype about him wanting to come to England. There may be more twists and turns yet...watch this space!

I am not so sure that Lampard will move to United. I think the more probability would be for Lampard to follow in the footsteps of Beckham to MLS. But he is still banging in the goals and who knows he might want to stay put in Europe, so let's wait and watch. Cheers! Ram

Its been some time since the Lampard to United rumors cropped up. It is as amusing to me now as it was then. I might be an outcast based on my opinion but I don't like the idea of Lampard joining United. I have 3 reason for it. 1. Since the arrival of Van Persie, goals have not been a problem for United so I don't understand why Lampard is needed. 2. He's old and probably will demand huge wages while not playing with United for more than 2 years. 3. Him coming in will mean lesser playing time for the like of Cleverley, Kagawa, Anderson. Again something that we don't need.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i do not know how true this news is but i think it would be a huge loss for the Chelsea team as Lampard has always played a crucial role for this team and if he is transferred then it would be interesting to see how he fits in Man U. For me i would like to see him scoring goals no matter whichever team he is in. What say?

If this news is correct, it will be a huge blow to Chelsea.Frank Lampard is not just a player, he is the heart and soul of Chelsea. He is player who played a major role in the success of the club. The manager, who clearly is not a fan's favourite would have a hard time justifying his decision to the fans.It is also a sad fact that a player with great form and dedication is made to leave the club while the out of form Torres continues to play at the club.Well,as a Chelsea fan, all I have to say is that Chelsea would not be the same without Frankie. He truly is a Chelsea legend.
