This photo is of myself & my wife Debbie. Savanna can be seen coming around the corner. Earlier this year we went up to the farm to clear out the pole barn, garage, shed, house etc of items we wanted or needed. Got some old memnetos from years ago. A few cool knick knacks from the 60's and some very old books. I am going to miss going up there oncew it's sold. Savanna had a blast with an old jewelery box of my moms full of costume jewelery. She found a small purse she loved also. That girl is a scavenger thats for sure. Do you like collecting/finding older items from your childhood at all? What is the most memorable? What's the oldest? My most memorable item is my senior graduation; picture which I kissed every time I walked into the house when I visited mom. The oldest is a photo of my mom when she was a teenager. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANPA BOB!!~

A few years ago we helped clean out my Granny's old home. It was the home that my Mama and all of her siblings were raised in. I found lots of momentos from my Granny that I kept. I found a wonderful handstitched blanket, the small vinegar pourer that she always used on the table and some dishes. I wish I would have found the bowl that she made her biscuits in. It was a wooden bowl and I can remember sitting at the kitchen table watching her mix the dough and make those tasty biscuits. She was so good at it. They always looked perfect and they tasted soo good!

It's great seeing & finding all the old things from our past as well as other family members past. We also got some original Tupperware from the 70's from the farm. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I love mementos and I have somehow become the keeper of my family's keepsakes. I have a couple hundred photos from the early 1900s on including a picture of my grandmother taken around 1913, artwork by my grandfather, my mother's Eastern Star jewelry, a clock my other grandfather made, all kinds of memorabilia items. I have a few things from my school days such as a picture I drew in kindergarten but I did not want to keep much of that stuff. These things are important to me and I pass things along as grandchildren and great grandchildren get old enough to appreciate and care for the items. I recently gave my great niece and nephew items that my mother, their great-grandmother, owned and loved and wore frequently, a baseball cap for him and a pearl necklace with rhinestone accents for her. I hope to give away most of the things before I kick the bucket!

its been a long time since my dad passed and we cleaned out the house..it was fun to go through things and pick out those special items we wanted to keep for ourselves...but it was so sad too.....knowing that we would never go home again.

It's great that you had the chance to find all of these mementos. My boyfriend hasn't much in the way of old mementos. Most of those have been lost--likely forever. I have a variety of stuff in storage--with my mother and in a couple of actual storage units. I remember some of what I own, but I am certain to discover many surprises when I finally go through all of that stuff.

A shame he doesn't have much in mementos. It's a lifeline to our past & our heritage at times. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Hi That's wonderful but why are you selling your farm? I love everything which belongs to my grandparents. when i visit their old home i collect everything which i can. of course the jewelry and the other things which my grand parents used and also the things with my mom used while playing when she was young .I love all of them. I can understand how savanna would have felt while collecting all those as i did it already. But those seemed to be some old things to my mom when i collected. But she didn't stop me. hope you had a good time

It's always hard saying good-bye to the past. I forget if you have any siblings. When we closed up my mom's house, mine were a bit proprietary, if you know what I mean. Did your dad go up with you? How is he, anyway?

Hey Grandpa Bob. I do believe being a scavanger is a good thing especially if you know how to find value in items other people miss. The oldest pictures in the house are with my parents wedding and some framed ones of me and my brothers since we were almost babies. As for my personal collection I believe my oldest stuff dates from school, like my grades notebook :)

I remember having to do something similar to what you did but the place wasn't being sold. I came across my beaded bracelet from when we went to the reservation in Iowa when I was like seven years old. It is over 50 years that it has been around and still in good shape. There was also the necklace and bracelet set that my Uncle Bill bought me when I was five. What treasures!

It seems your farm is beautiful and quiet. I always dream of having a farm since I was a kid. I hope God will grant my desire someday. :-) Have a nice day!
