At home, we grow chives around our house. It's very simple to grow and very easy to cook. Of course, I can't really have it now because it's winter, but if I wanted to, we could just buy some. (Really not worth the cost if we could grow it for free though.)
When cooking chives, obviously cleaning it would be a good job, seeing that the chives we have always have some dirt sticking onto the tip. You don't really cut the root of the chives, but it's kind of like cutting grass. You shave some off and it'll all grow back. :)
Slice the chives however long you would like them to be, and having them grouped up only makes the job easier to do. Later, oil up the pan and make some scrambled eggs. Once you know that your scrambled eggs are done, put the scrambled eggs elsewhere for a bit and add the chives into the pan.
Add a bit of salt to the chives to make sure they have a bit of flavor, and once you can smell the chives spreading elsewhere in the house is the indication of when your chives are fully cooked.
Add the scrambled eggs back with the chives and let it simmer, and you got yourself a pretty awesome dish! Chives are pretty awesome.. Have you made any dishes with chives yet? They're super easy to cook with.

Yeah, I can see what you mean by that. Chives do go well with a lot of things though, I made it the other day and put it in my spring roll with a bit of cooked ground meat. The tastes & textures really compliment each other, I would have to say.. especially when I added hot sauce on it.

I used to grow chives but haven't in some time as i no longer have a garden. I want to try to grow them inside. I loved my fresh chives and they are so wonderful with so much different cooking recipes. I used to make onion and chive bread for one. They are so much better fresh than store bought though, which is why I want to try to grow them inside.
