The Mail Man

I've been trying to get my house payment mailed out for over the past week. I sent it out last week in the mailbox that is right in front of the closest branch to our house and on Saturday I got it back in my mailbox as the address had smeared (I assume as a result of all the rain that we had).
I took out my payment stub and check and put them in a new envelope, addressed it and took it out to my mailbox at home this afternoon (before our mail ran) and lifted my flag. I go back outside an hour later and our mail has arrived, the flag is down and guess what was still in my mail box? Of course it was the check that I'm trying to get to our mortgage company. I'm so frustrated with the USPS right now it isn't even funny. Yes, perhaps I could have stuck it to the outside of my mailbox, but it was raining and it would have just gotten ruined again. Aggrevating.
Have you recently had any kinds of problems with the postal service in your area? If you have, share with me.

I get mail that is the wrong address put it back out for mailing and its back in my box again. Last time I took it to the post office and sure enough it arrived at my home again. This time we went out to find the address, as it was a bill and they were going to have a problem paying it. We left the letter at the house, as the post office was just going to give it to us again.

There have been several times that we've gotten the wrong person's mail at our house, but it is typically someone that lives on our street, so when it does happen, I will take the mail and just leave it in that person's box.

Lately they are the worst. That is why I do online banking as often as I can when it comes to paying bills and will use my Debit card for payments a lot of places as well. It does get quite frustrating sometimes in how long it takes something to get somewhere, and then they keep on missing the mail you put out there, etc. Makes you really wonder anymore.

I do actually pay the vast majority of my bills online. We have one utility that charges a hefty fee to pay them online, so I will go and pay that one in person. I do at least have the option with that one to either pay them at the water company or I can also pay at the Shell station that isn't too far away from our home. I avoid using USPS when it is possible to avoid it.

I had a package at Christmas time that arrived almost a week after they promised it would. I was getting really nervous that it wouldn't arrive on time! Besides that they keep delivering mail for someone that lives a block away. I actually remailed one letter three times before I didn't get it back. I finally took a red pen and underlined the address!

Um, was your address similar to the address on the other street that isn't all that far away? That is really strange that they delivered the same thing to your house that many times before you didn't see it any more.

Not at home, but where I work.
I work in a small shop with an office. The owners of the company work with us, and depend on the daily mail for checks and stuff. Our shop is at a corner where there is often lots of traffic at the intersection (specially last Christmas season). People would often drive through our parking lot to avoid the traffic. When this happens, we put crates at our entrances so that cars couldn't drive through. Well, our mail woman didn't like this and didn't deliver our mail for a week because she can't get into the parking lot!

I hate when we have mail problems with our home, but when it is a business, it is even worse because in so many situations, places of employment are depending on the mail carriers to bring in important paperwork, orders, etc.

You lucky one can just put your mail to be sent into the mailbox and the mailman will get that, no such chance here. We either have to go to a Post office or to the next mail box to get the mail out.
Our mail-Woman is quite the hectic person so she wont write a note if a letter or small package is too thick and wont fit into the mailbox but she will cram it in with force so the mail gets here ripped up, torn etc etc......

We might be supposed to be able to get our mail picked up from our own mail box, but they don't actually always pick it up the way that they are supposed to.
However, since I've learned of this issue, it really isn't all that inconvenient to go to the post office and drop our mail in the box at the post office that is just a couple miles away from our home.

The price of stamps keep going up and the service is getting worse. I've learned to put tape over the outgoing mailing address when it's raining like that. I never leave anything on the outside of the box anymore either and I usually take it to the post office myself. We live and learn. I have had problems with mail not getting delivered, so I take all my outgoing mail to the post office myself.
The post office here in our town is even worse, the attendants will cheat you. Making you go first class when you want to send something third class. I looked it up online, and any package can be mailed third class and the attendants here insist on if it is over 1# it automatically gets bumped up to 1st class. I have no use for this post office or how they cheat the customer. It's sad really. Their service is horrible.

I really like the idea of putting tape over the mailing address so that it wouldn't be able to run like the address did on my envelope.
I know that I should have taken the envelope to the post office myself, but being as how I didn't have a car to get to the post office, I thought that I would take advantage of the service that the post office is supposed to supply. I will consider this to be a lesson learned.
