Happy times and forgetting something

Although it is winter last Sunday was dry and mildly cold. I unlocked our garage to let my daughter's bike out. I took her for a very enjoyable bike ride. She had such a delightful time. We came back home and I put her bike in our garage. However with all my happiness I forgot to lock the garage. This morning I looked out of one of the window at the snow everywhere. I noticed our garage door was wide open. Then I remembered I had forgotten to lock in after my daughter's bike ride. Silly me. Have you had a happy time and then forgotten something? If your family members have bikes do you go out on them? Did you ever have a very happy bike ride?

The small price of contentment, you are lucky that people in your neighbourhood are honest, leaving a garage open could be an invitation to thieves my friend, but it is easily done, I admit. My best memory of a bike ride was back in 1986 Mum and I had gone to Guernsey for a week, and we got a boat to one of the adjoining Channel Islands, Sark, where there was no road transport, the only way to get around on the island was bike or horse! Well we hired bikes and cycled all around, but there were no sign posts and we had to get back to catch the boat, we were getting worried as we had forgotten to plot the route and hadn't got a map, well eventually we managed to get back with minutes to spare, it was fun, and we were knackered the next day through all the cycling we did!

Sounds like fun. And what a memory - just making it back in time to catch the ferry.

That is a wonderful story. Forget that something. It is nice to bond with family. My son is three years old and I often play with him. I'm always happy to be with him though at times it is tiring. But most of the time I enjoy being with him.

There are many places where you just cannot leave doors open. You noticed that my house has a fence with a lock and a key. I could not leave that door opened even if it is a nice neighborhood. I´m glad nothing was stolen and I´m glad your bike ride was so nice.

I had a bike and I went on bike rides when I was growing up. There were many bikes around, and it was common that people's bike gets stolen. I bring my kids into a nearby park where we live. There's a good place to ride bikes without having to worry about cars. A few times last spring/fall we'd go on these bike rides, and they'd leave their bikes in the front yard. We'd forget about it, and they would still be there the following day. If it was where I grew up, they'd be gone.

And that is why most people say "Don't make promises or decisions when you're at your happiest". Precaution and logic tend to get thrown out the window when you are savoring the moment. I mean, it's true, who wouldn't want that euphoric experience of being happy and spending it with a loved one? Anyway, I had a similar experience, my husband just gave me my own car and I was so happy driving it around the neighborhood with our nephew. So when I parked it in the garage, I forgot to lock it because my nephew offered me to look up some "cool" accessories for the car. I my excitement, I totally forgot to lock the garage door. It is not even closed properly. Thank goodness our neighborhood is not notorious for robbery and carnapping. But still...

I was worried someone might have stolen my lawn mower. Nothing got taken. So I was very lucky. It is a shame someone would have if I lived in your state. Good luck

You are so lucky that nothing was taken!! I bet the snow did not allow people to hang around outside! Both my kids' bikes were stolen when they were younger. I remember my one son going to the corner shop on his bike - not far from where we stay. A guy simply pushed him from his bike and drove off!!! My son was small build and there was nothing he could do but get up from the ground and cry...

My boyfriend and I didn't have a car and we used our bikes a lot. In the weekends we often visited places in our local area and we always had a great time. At the moment I don't have a bike, but I might buy one in the future when we have some extra money. My parents usually spend their holidays in the north of Denmark and soem time ago my husband and I visited them there. We found a place where we were able to rent tandem bikes and we decided to rent one of them. While we had the bike we visited some of the places in the area, and it was a great way to explore the area. I would like to rent a tandem bike again.

It was quite warm for the winter last weekend for us as well and my children were lucky enough that they were able to take their new bikes that they had gotten for Christmas out and ride them and they absolutely had a blast with it. I too really like being able to go out and ride with the kids, but that isn't something that I'm able to do right now because of the fact that my bike is broken right now and either needs to be repaired or replaced before I will be able to go out and ride with my children again.

I would also be doing the same thing sometimes. Too preoccupied because of feeling happy and forgetting more important things. I used to go biking when I was a kid. But never had a chance again when I got married.

Oh, yes, I keep forgetting things all the time, especially when I had fun. My daughter also have a bike which we keep in our apartment corridor, because we don't have a garage. We go for a funny ride almost every weekend and we have a lot of fun. Snow already melted here and it's a very beautiful but cold January. We're expecting snow again next week so my daughter will be the happiest kid in the world!

Was there snow in the garage? I know I have forgotten things from time to time, as most people are sure to do. Sounds like you had a nice time with your family though.

My daughter and her boyfriend have bikes. They put her two small dogs in a pouch that they carry across their shoulders. They each carry one dog. The dogs are two small to keep up with them riding their bikes. Then they will often to a park so that their dogs can run around and get some exercise. It works out perfectly for her and her boyfriend as they each can carry a dog in their pouch. My husband and I enjoy going for walks. When my kids were younger, we would go for walks in the woods that was behind our neighborhood. A couple of times, we almost got lost, even though we could hear the traffic from the highway and we knew we were near the city. It was kind of freaky to be so close to our city and yet, be lost in the woods. We did have a good time and we did manage to figure out where the trails led in order to get out of the woods.
