Daughter flu and vertigo

My daughter has been suffering from vertigo for months. One day she passed right out and crumpled to the floor in a heap! I cm couldn't wake her up. I couldn't get her to respond. I called 911 and it took them awhile to bring her to. They had to do a sternal rub ((very painful) to bring her around.
She has been feeling really bad and the vertigo keeps happening even now. I called our doctor and got her in right away. K has a bad inner ear infection which is causing the vertigo and also very bad headaches. The doc did a flu test and it was positive for the flu virus. So, the doc ordered Tamaflu. That stuff us expensive. It wasn't covered by her insurance, so it was $30.
I hate that my daughter feels bad. I'd rather be sick myself than for her to be sick. That's just the way I am. I have never wanted her to suffer being sick. The most I could do was buy her some apple juice.
I made some home maid chili and added cheese to our bowls of soup. I also add Greek yogurt ...it's like sour cream. It was good. She didn't eat much. It was just too much for her. I'm going to open a can of Progresso soup and fix that for her later.
She hasn't run a temp, but in trying to make sure she stays hydrated.
One of my friends from Ontario was telling me how difficult it is to see a doctor. I'm glad it's not that way here.
The Tamiflu pills should be helping her feel better in a few days. The antibiotics for her ear is for 7 days. Hope she feels better soon. It is scary when she falls out from dizziness. She said segment can hear but she cannot respond when that happens. She comes back to herself in about 10 minutes or so.
She tends to run low blood sugar like I do. Feeling so poorly, she can't eat much. That contributes to her falling out, I'm sure.
I had my flu shot and pneumonia shot the other day. I hope I don't get what she has. I can still get the flu up to 2 weeks after the shot. It's only 60% effective cuz of so many strains of flu.
Your thoughts?

If you want to help her get better, see to it that she gets plenty of Vitamin C, either in the form of raw, fresh fruits and vegetables, or in synthetic form, like Vitamin C tablets or those high Vitamin C drinks. Echinacea will help activate her blood cells to fight the infection. You can get it either in pills or tea. Either one will work. Also, I found out that this flu going around tends to lower one's blood pressure, so if anyone has a monitor, you might want to check that.
Good luck to her. I hate to hear of anyone who feels that badly.

I hope she feels better soon, but even people I know who had the shot have gotten very ill. When the vertigo started she should have seen the doctor right away since it did not get better. My daughter had pneumonia once and never ran a fever. You are doing the best you can for her.

There is another user here that had vertigo and was told it could come back suddenly for the rest of her life. Physical therapy is what made hers better. I had it once, and I took an OTC called Meclizine, which is the generic for antivert. I tend to be the one who refuses the doctor, but I went when that happened. Better to have a bill for a small problem than a huge bill for a bigger one.

She didn't go to the doctor when it happened when she fainted because her husband was shaming her about money. He got mad because she was awake and alert when he got home from work. It took awhile for the EMTs to revive her, but she was revived when he got home. The EMTs were still here when he got here. After they left he got all mad about another bill to pay if she sees a doctor. He told her to suck it up. So she has had this vertigo for a couple of months now.

Hopefully, your flu shot will be effective against the strain of flu from which your sister is suffering.
Hot tea with honey should help make your daughter feel a bit better as well. Hopefully, the meds work quickly and she's showing significant improvement shortly.

The reason I always mention honey is because raw honey contains natural antibiotics. I am a big believer in the healing power of foods.
I need to get more honey, but I do still have a tiny bit in the cabinet. I need to work my way through our current food stock before I stock up again, so I think that I shall hold off on any real buying of food for at least two or three weeks.

She's lucky you were there to look after her. She could have really hurt herself when falling. Hope she gets better soon.
