how many languages do you know?

I like to say that I can barely speak English, but I do. I understand and can read a great deal of Mexican Spanish, but have problems speaking it. I studied Italian in college and can understand a lot of it, still, but don't speak it at all anymore. I understand a few words of German and Swahili, but would need to learn a lot more before I could function in societies that use those languages. So, I basically tell people that I speak English. But, I often surprise people with how much Spanish I understand.

Well,a know portuguese(my language too!),a bit of english and spanish..nothing more!

i know english and tamil(my mother tongue and one of the language spoken in india) and hindi(to read alone).

Me also only of Brazil, I speak Portuguese, and I deceive in English

Tagalog and Ilocano from my country in Philippines. And also i know how to speak in English(US) and English(UK)-the same spelling but different prounciation

I speak portuguese, that is my mother language, and I speak spanish as good as I speak portuguese, with a mexican accent.. I speak english(US) and starting to learn Italian.. if I improve my italian I will become a poliglot. :)

English and I guess my next one that I'm sort of able to speak is Spanish. I know a little Italian and a little German as well and a couple of words in Vietmanese. I expect I'll learn more as my youngest daughter married a Vietmanese.

right now i only know 1 im working on arabic i have hopes of learning 5 more so i have alot on my plate.

I know English, French, Tamil, Hindhi, Malayalam and Telegu! I can read, write and speak in all the above languages fluently except French coz I am just learning that language!
