Work Online is a Risk to Pay For Electric Bills!

I was confuse and I don't know what to do. Our electric bill is so high. I understand that someone pays my internet connection because I do not have money yet. Another is I rely here on myLot for work online. I don't have a job. I am not a professional. I have less skills and so, myLot is for me. Even though the pay is low, I have my extra income and so, I stay here on myLot. Now my only concern is the electric bill and my brother is always complaining because he's the one who pay the bills. He said that the cause of our high electric bill is I am using my computer laptop for more than 10 hours. What shall I do about it? I want to work online but having an extra income from online is not enough to pay the bills and my brother is always complaining for everything for the high cost of electric bill.
Its like he wants me to stop using computer or even though he allowed me to use computer, he does not want me to stay long in front of a computer so that the pay for electric bill would be reduce. If I don't stay long in front of a computer or I use it less than an hour in front of a computer then, how will I earn my money here online?
I want to help my family to pay the bills so that my brother would not complain a lot! I would like to pay the electric bills because it seems that my brother is blaming me for using computer for more than an hour for just working online.

I think you need to look for another source of income that really supports your daily needs and your payments in your electric bill. You should be sensitive enough that you are already a burden to your brother because he is not allowing you anymore to stay in front of the computer anytime you want and he is now complaining for the bills because of you. Do not get me wrong about this.

My mother would not allow me to work outside from home. I do not know why. She always discourage me to work outside from home and so, I decided to work online to earn money. If I am going to apply a job outside from home, she would complain a lot. She complain a lot because she does not have money to give me too. Spending money for a commute is a little bit expensive especially if I am always got rejected from employer at the company. What I did is I work online to earn money but then, I realized that I was a burden too to my brother because he complain a lot when it comes to paying high electric bill at home. It is because I stay too long in front of a computer.
My mother said that is fine with her that I work online, but even though she said that, I also feel a little bit guilty for my brother because he's paying also the electric bill and he said, the cause of high electric bill is from my computer laptop. I know how he feels about paying high electric bills that is why it seems he does not want me to allow to use a computer anymore or if I would use it, he wants me to use less time in front of a computer.
I do not know where will I get another source of income that will pay the electric bill. Its fine with me if I am be the one who pays the electric bill as long there is a work online that will give a good money for paying bills.

At my house, I unplug everything we are not using. Like the microwave, washing machine, dryer, lamps, etc. If you have a plug in the outlet, there is continuous flow of electricity, even when the appliance is not being used.
As for time on the computer. I understand your frustration. People who don't 'work' online think those of us who do are just wasting there time playing games or something. If I were you, I would take my laptop to a coffee shop or similar location that offers free wifi. Do some of your work there. It'll be good for you to get out of the house, and your brother will feel more like you are 'doing something'.

I think you can't rely only on working online to pay the bills, I know that for sure because I am unemployed to and I'm struggling to help with the family budget and it's not working that well so far. The reason is, that if it was that easy, no one would have a regular job... So I never stop looking for a job and I suggest you do the same. As to the bill, computers and laptops don't use that much power. My computer is on almost 20 hours every single day because I constantly work on it and believe me, the electricity price in my country is the highest in Europe. And yet our bills are quite normal. There are other things that must be sought to find the source of the high bills.

Perhaps you need to find other source of income so that you can already shoulder the bills from you online income. You said you do not have a job perhaps you can try submitting articles in some writing sites. With writing, chances of earning passive income can be possible.
I have a permanent job yet I can still write some articles to my writing sites. Slowly, we can be able build our career in writing.

Oh , as per my observation , PC don't consumed high electric bills. My PC here works almost 18 to 20 hours but current is not that high. I guess the big appliances that eats much current is the Iron , Electric fan , aircon , freezer , rice cooker , oven toaster. Tell your brother that although you kept on using you PC , the current it eats is just moderate.
Also to make use of your time , find good writing sites . There are so many in the internet ,all you need is diligence and commitment to work. Good Luck !

maybe he is right... but laptop doesn't cost much electricity. unless you have other things running aside from the laptop. which is true. I don't think mylot can be a good source of living. but a little help from you goes a long way already and at least you are trying to help not a vagabond.

I agree with you Mavic.Laptop dose'nt consume much electricity as it has recharegeable battery which it can run upto more than 6Hours.
Hi friend i think depending your income money from mylot will not help you able to pay bills.
There are many oppurtunities available online which pays genuinely.You should try those googling it.

you right, laptop not cost a lot electricity. I have laptop running for years and I can see the different while using desktop computer.

In your situation I would try to talk to my brother and promise him to reduce the electricity bill in other ways. You could could switch off the tv or the radio if you watch tv or listen to music while you use your laptop. There are many other small things that you can do like unplugging the cellphone charger when you don't use it or switching off the light when you leave a room. If he still insists that you have to use your laptop less you could try to find a place where you can use free wifi. In my country we can do that the libraries and many other places, but I don't know if you have the same option in your country.

Actually, this is what came in my head too when I first joined Mylot. That is why, I do not take it as a source for income. It is more for having pleasure from discussion. The earning is only like a reward. But yes, laptop does not take up much electricity. It is the pc which is more notorious for this. When here in Silicone Valley, dot com time arrived we began having electricity problem. Simply it is because desktop computers take up more electricity. Why don't you keep your laptop without electricity while working here on Mylot. It will save up the power. I am sure your laptop has battery.

Oh your post made me sad..you are trying so hard and your brother doesn't seem to appreciate that fact.
Yet, I have to smile to see all the support you have received and the excellent suggestons others have made. I agree with them all and it makes me feel good to know myLot is such a supportive place.
I also can't believe you use of the computer makes such a big differenct..perhaps you can tell him you will reduce use of some other electricity to make up for it??

Hi IntrovertShy! Try writing articles for Odesk and other writing sites that pay. You don't have to be online all the time. Do your researches and then copy them to your notepad or Word so you can write without having to use the internet. I do that when I didn't have monthly internet yet. I used to use broadband stick.. I would do my searches at the office and then I put them in MS Word so I could use them as reference and then I'd send them to my email so I could open them at home and write offline..
Since you are using a laptop, maybe you can to a place with wifi so you could use free net

Last time, I was also in your situation. I don't have any job. I'm thinking of doing full time as an online earner, doing MyLot and other online work and I did. Then, as 2 years passed by, I realize that earning online is a long term earning. I earn not much money and can't pay any bills or can't even support myself. So, I had no choice but to get a job and I did. I'm also like you, not a professional and less skills person. As you can see, working online has its disadvantages. Working online can't earn much money to pay electricity bills or support anyone. Working online can increase electricity bill. Working online cannot be our main income, instead it can only be an extra income earning it during our spare time. My advice is you got to get a job out there and do whatever online job during your spare time.

I think, as others have said, a laptop does not consume that much energy. A way to reduce electric bills is to unplug everything that is not in use. Did you know that when you shut things off there is still electricity going into them? And that is costing you. If you unplug the TV, radio and other things when they're not being used, this helps to cut down on electrical costs a little. Maybe your brother means when you're charging your laptop this is what's causing the bill to go up? Have you tried surveys? They are very hard to qualify for but I could help you in a PM with some ways to get surveys. I belong to quite a few sites but they're only US, UK and Canada. I qualify for 3-6 surveys a day. I could give you pointers on getting the surveys if you have sites for your country. Surveys pay better. Writing article may be good as well. I think Bubblews is good for beginning. I looked at some of their articles and some are short and seemed liked easy writing. Hope this helps.

I just started but, bowever I did find some really nice ones that actually pay a resonable amount of money. You won't get rich however it will increase your income.I really like microworkers.com. its a quick way to make money.It also has different payment optoins.there are others email me and I'll send the link to you.Also what do you do tell me i need help.

computer doesn't cost much electricity, almost nothing. but you should try to find out what is the source of the problem. That the best you can do, and a long the way try to find out more websites to make money. don't be afraid to take a risk, because life it's about risk !

You haven't earned a lot in all the time you have been here so I am thinking that the 10 hours you spend online each day are not spent working at myLot.
Why don't you spend at least one or two of those hours getting off your backside and looking for a job. Maybe you could do the housework for your brother. Does he also feed and clothe and house you? What do you do for him?
Get real, you are never going to be able to earn enough money for a meal at the rate you are earning here so do whatever you have to do to get a proper job.

As far as I know, using laptop does not really eat up a lot of electricity consumption. So you don't have to worry on this thing. In this regard, perhaps try to approach your brother to tell him that the only way you can help him in some expenses is to earn online so you need to work and use your laptop. Another thing is, maybe you can do a deal with him that you will be vigilant in some appliances that need to be shut off when not in use like electric fans, since this is the most common appliances that eat up electric consumption aside from that, perhaps, you can start avoiding using rice cooker if you have one. Plus, you can also avoid watching TV's, so as not to add up on the electricity consumed. Hence, there are a lot of ways on how to save electricity but you must know how to conserve properly. Thus there are a lot of ways on how to be frugal and save money.

my opinion are the same as well with other comments using a laptop s not really the cause of high electricity bill since you could recharge the battery and then remove the connection from the main adapter. i this way you could save energy. those appliances which generates heat are the cause of high electrical bills such as iron, electric stoves, electric heater, fan, air-con, hair blower, rice cooker and microwave oven. you need to use them less and observe the next electric bill if they reduce so you could make any further adjustments.

I know how you feel. I'm a single mother of three. and still looking for ways to make money .I do have a few online jobs that actually pay. I really like microworkers.com. Since you are working from home did he know that the light bill is a tax write off . because you're working from home.
