"You are my Pumpkin Pumpkin,
Hello Honey Bunny...
You are my Dumpling Dumpling Hello Honey Bunny...
Feeling Something Something
Hello Honey Bunny, toko toko"
This song belongs to Idea Cell Phone which most Indians are by now familiar with. What I feel odd is that anyone who picks up the phone will get to listen to this song. If my grocer picks up the phone and I call him 'You are my pumpkin, pumpkin........'
Would you still like to say this to your grocer?

hello there,
for some time its ok,But for every now and then it makes us feel odd about a particular ringtone and after a certain period of time we started getting irritated. As for this particular ringtone, thankfully i was not in india and I am Still not,so at least I am saved and fortunately I am not even using Idea when I am in India.
But do you really consider what dailor tone the person has or is it for someone special, when we are calling someone the only thing which we are thinking about is the topic for which we are calling the person and not about the ringtone.
may be at times we do call someone just for time pass but even after that we really don't care what the ringtone is..do we..?
take care
Raj

Thank God you just said hello there!
Caller tunes do have a role to play. I don't think they become just sounds even if one gets to hear them umpteen number of times. This particular tune just does not suit.

That is precisely what I was telling you. Caller tunes are not just sounds they are irritants and if they take eons to pick the phone that is another issue altogether. Some will have bajans, some love songs - something should be done about this.

hi,
So what were you expecting I am going to say besides hello..
Anyways..speaking about the called tunes, there are some of them which are good in particular, like a dialog or something but some of them are pretty weird. There was this friend of mine who's ringtone was of the movie DON the new one of Sharukh,The dialog "Don ka intazaar and all bla bla bla".the moment he use to pick up the call I use to give him bad words like hell,You know the ringtone says something about 11 mulko ki police and all that and i use to tell him that anyone can find you with 11 min where you are and kick you.
He was a fan of sharukh and never did he do something which shows that he was a don or something. We always wonder why he kept that ringtone in the first place..
Don't you think that just a normal music with a song or lyrics is good enough as a caller tune, just simple and plain music, what say..?

I have no problem at all here because most of the grocers here do not know English. In fact, earlier I used to go in search of vendors who know a bit of English but now my Hindi is much better and it is easier to deal with these people in Hindi. To cut a long story short there is no problem in many cases. And if the vendor happens to know English he will know that the song does not have any reference to him.
As such I hate Idea cell phone.

Your name will be flashed on the screen. Granting that your grocer will not understand, how about your mother-in-law - kala is calling her 'your are my pumpkin, pumpkin
