Why Do So Many Blog-Commenters Think It Better to Stay 'Anonymous'?

On my BlogSpot-blogs, I'm always getting comments on how my blogs are so great that the commenters are "huge fans of my work" & "def. adding my blog to their blogrolls." But the commenters are almost-always "Anonymous." Why do they do that? Is it such a terrible thing to let Google-&/or-Blogger (our friends 'inside the system'---code-heads 'living in their mothers' basements' just like you & me ) store a cookie on your machine?

Chances are they're spammers, just saying something nice so they can get their site URL posted on your page as an extra backlink. They use spambots that generate phrases like these automatically. You'll also see a load of things like "where did my last comment go?" or "your page doesn't load properly in my browser". It's all spam.

Matter-of-fact, my blogspot-account automatically throws ALL anonymous comments into the SPAM-bin! So the anonymous commenters are wasting-my time & -blogspot's server-space (or whatever kind of space blog-comments take up)

... I meant '-THEIR time'; they only waste 'my' time if I feel like "dumpster-diving" to salvage their comments from expiration.

Makes the few blogs that are WORTHY of such comment-generators look like common spammies.

Who knows, maybe they are just paranoid or don't want people online to know who they really are. I never worry about that sort of thing, I always leave my real name.

there is a high possibility that these anonymous writers were given negative comments when they were small so they were discouraged to write again publicly.

... or maybe they tried to justify 'privacy' on the 'public' Internet and their heads started to explode a little ...

Yes, it is. Some people don't want to sign in just to comment something if they don't have to . Also there is so much censorship of the web going on in certain countries, that people have to be a little sneaky, Not, that not signing into a site is going to stop them from getting your IP and whatever else, but a lot of people aren't aware of this.

You should have gotten the best response if you were mark excellent cupkitties. there's a lot of people who likes to abuse and bully people online and get away from it. then, do it again in the process just to satisfy their bullying to that person. i wonder if detecting it through IP has ever been accurate? well, that's the sad part in cyberspace, when bad people starts doing naughty they get away with it, specially if it's a hacker.

Hello mythiociate, because they likely don't have much to do when they expose their real names and identities, they could be threatened outside or sued for such remarks. that's why some people tend to feel safe when having the guts to express what they feel. i admit some can be unfair to the point of trolling but this is cyberspace and unless you got the technology to detect, it's impossible for them to reveal themselves. i bet most of these trolls are quiet in real life.

That's because of one of the less-celebrated 'rights' we have as Americans: the right to sue anybody we want for any complaint we can conceive! G*d Bless America

good day mythociate, i do also thinks about that. as i always encounters the same on my blogs. as a result, i can't even thank them for posting great words on my blog. i guess, it is just a trend or maybe they don't want to divulge even any single detail so they can't be tract easily. and would just love to remain anonymous.

I don't understand it, either. I don't think that if they use a nickname for their blogs etc. they would be so exposed to hackers and stuff. I just think these people are just too and overly scared about their personal data...
