I found that many environmental products are much more expensive than the common products. Although they work the same, but the environmental products claim that they will not make a lot of pollution and therefore its price will be higher. I just don't understand why. The environmental products can be cheaper since they shall be natural stuff. Especially if your price is lower, then it can encourage people to buy it and finally it will be helpful for the environment. So these products shall have a reasonable price in my opinion.

can it be because Environmental products can not be mass produced? I agree with you environmental advocates keep on encouraging people to get environmental friendly products and yet if you check on the price.. whoo .. it's topping the billboard for prices.. arrgh! Most of the time only can afford people can buy and pay for it.

Its like a battle. They're tryign to push us into this but we are always struggling to keep a reign on our finance so we can live and survive. The evironmentalists aren't realizing how hard it is to live in these economies.

yes, I hope so too Echo and Youless, I know that you two would want to save the environment in our own little way. Our own little ways will count big time for sure in the end.

it is more expensive because it takes more work to process natures ingredients unlike unlike other products that is processed in the laboratories using chemicals to copy the organic materials used.

Majority of environmental friendly products if not all usually require extra manufacturing processes to become eco-friendly for the consumers. The extra process added to the finished products will no doubt incur additional costs to the manufacturers during manufacturing stage and added marketing costs in their initial introduction to the market. Once the product receive wide acceptance among consumers ;gradually increase in sales and enter the second/ third stage of product's life cycle, manufacturer can begin to enjoy the benefit on economic of scale in it, and sometime the product cost of manufacturing can be lower and pass on to the consumers as time pass by, then you can expect quite similar price range among eco-friendly product and common product of similar function and quality. It is not always possible to produce eco-friendly products at a lower cost with natural stuff especially you need to put raw material through the factory to become a finish product.

i agree, not all but most all the environmental products are expensive. Perhaps, all i can think of is the material or the owner taking advantage to earn more.

I think this is not a good reason to charge extra money from the people who want to do something good for the environment.

It's not surprising to me considering it's usually cheaper and easier to do the wrong thing. Synthetic, non-biodegradable pollutants are just plain easier to make and cheaper to do so. That's why companies have spent the last few centuries taking damaging shortcuts. The way I see it, making the world a better place is worth the sacrifice. It's like eating healthy... it may seem more expensive and uncomfortable in the beginning, but the cost of doing the alternatives will ultimately be devastating.

So you are willing to pay extra for the environmental products.

The products aren't actually that expensive to make. The only reason that it's expensive is that the companies making it can get away with it.

That's another reason, there isn't enough control on what is high in price these days, that's my feeling in the matter.

Hello You Less. I know exactly what you mean about environmental products being more expensive. Organic vegetables and fruit cost more than regular one. Many products have stuff in which harm the environment. I like to buy products that are vegan which are good for the environment. I find the shampoo and conditioner that are environment safe with natural vegan things in them more pricey than ordinary shampoos and conditioners. Yes, environmental safe products should be cheap, low cost or even of a reasonable price.

In fact I don't know which companies pay attention to the environment.

Firstly the environmental products need more strict inspection and need to use more better and high-tech facility, secondly the invironmental products still new to our markets,so the quantity is small so the marginal cost is higher. But if government can give those company more allowance then I think the price will be cheaper than right now.
