Maybe I am just stupid when it comes to the social networking sites but the one called Twitter really has me stumped. I used to have a Twitter account but could never figure out what to do with it nor get any "tweets" back so I just deleted it. I do see it being used alot from the shows on TV but still have no clue. Facebook to me is way easier and better to use but for some I guess the use of Twitter is something they have mastered. Can anyone explain Twitter and how to use it?

Twitter is meant for microblogging.. It basically Facebook/Myspace / ? if they took away all the features and left you with nothing but a friends list and the status updater. You can use it to post links to a full blog, articles, photos, video etc.. or just to share your thoughts and whatever important or unimportant event is going on in your life.

Hmmm then from what I take by what you are saying is that you just post thoughts and there is nothing really to it other than Celebrities trying to gain others to follow them. Seems like Facebook can accomplish the same and has more substance to it.

Well, that's true but if you're a business owner, writer, adverstiser, etc, etc. it can be a very useful tool. If you're trying to promote something, you'll need something besides just Facebook in order to reach as many people as you can.

Twitter is an underated tool for promoting links, refs and PTP - you can also socialise on there too. However if you want to be a successful promoter on Twitter, you need many followers - I have 4000. If I thought anyone was interested I would write a blog explaining how to get a large number of followers and how to get the best out of Twitter

I'd be interested in that article. I have been trimming my lists there this week, and now I'd like to build them up into people who are the right followers for what I tweet.

I agree 100%. since I've been using it, it has helped me a ton with all of that. I need to get myself organized so I can get all that I need to done. I know I'm missing out on a big chunk of earnings because I can't do it all

That's what I felt too when I first had my twitter account. I see a lot of TV shows promoting their twitter account/s and having their audience follow them. Then one day my friends started talking about it and they keep saying it's so much fun in Twitter so I decided to sign up but ended up not using it pretty much because it seems complicated to use for me at first. However, after I spend a few hours going around the site and get myself myself familiar with it, I found out that it's actually easy to use. You just have to get followers, these are your friends or people who would like to follow your updates. In facebook, followers are your friends or subscribers. Then you have to follow some people too whether it's a group, celebreties, companies or your friends so you'll have updates on them on your timeline. Your username will be used by your followers if ythey want to include you in a conversation or something. If you are following a lot of people, worry not about reading your mentions because the @ sign on your twitter account will let you read those followers of you who tweeted you. It's really easy to use and you can read their FAQs or How to guides so you'll get yourself more familiar with it. That's what I did and now I'm loving Twitter more. Happy myLotting! :)

I have NO clue how to use it either, I am just so glad someone else feels the way I do about it! It lost me too so I don't have an account there either anymore, or if I do I don't use it... Lol. Sorry I could not be helpful here but I will definitely be checking back to see what others say so maybe I can figure it out too!

I am completely rethinking my Twitter strategy because I found someone who has found it useful for marketing. I'm not managing three Twitter accounts -- one for an organization I belong to. I'm trying to define my target audience for each account and then tweet what will interest the people I'm trying to reach. Some people do have Twitter feeds that read like a string of commercials for their online content or affiliate products. I tend not to follow them -- especially if they don't follow back. Some people follow almost anyone back, and that can sometimes lead to a situation you won't want. Watch out for people who don't post a picture, don't follow anyone, and aren't followed by anyone. They tend to post single spam links. So always check their profiles. They don't normally have tweets, either. They get to you with @_______ and their link. They try to deceive you so you will confuse their tweet with a possible reply to one of your.

Hi steelers. To the rescue! he he Have a nice day! I can say that twitter is a good site to promote our sites and articles. I started just several months ago and as of now I was able to managed to get more than a thousand followers. The strategy is being active on the site and making friends with everybody. I think just like any other site, this is the key to become successful.

I mainly use Twitter, to enter contests. It more like Facebook Statuses, you post that type of things, people can reply or comment. I find it rather boring, so I don't use it often.
