Girls - what do you think of your other half's 60 inch tv?

Do you LOVE it too... or do you hate it? Would you ever ask him to get rid of it? Hide it in the basement? Get it out of your bedroom? Not have it take over your family living area? I am a gadget/electronics lover. Yesterday I was watching Love it or List It - a show on HGTV and this young couple was continuously arguing over the husband's tv. It occurred to me that I hear this same attitude among other women I know. Is this considered a FEMALE thing to not like big tvs? Honestly? I LOVE our big tvs. To the women who whine constantly, consider what a tv like that costs - AND HD capabilities. It's great for movie nights at home and to plug in a gaming system like a ps3 or a wii. Just stop hating, what if your husband wanted you to get rid of all your shoes and jewelry? LOL!

I wouldn't mind it. In fact, I plan to have a threatre room built in my home one day, so I might want to have one it a little bigger like a movie screen .

An actual theater room would be fun to have, with soundproofing in the walls, nice cushy reclining seats and a small counter/bar and a mini fridge for drinks. I'd stock my snacks in there and bring in a small micro to make popcorn or heat things up.

We have 1 tv and it's up to me if it will be switched on or not. So no fights about that. I have no intentions anymore to listen to a tv programm for hours or whole days on I don't like. I am tired of that. My children ask me if it's allowed and ofcourse they do watch programms I don't like as well but only for the time I allow it plus if they don't like to watch the same programms they can pick out what they like one by one.

We have a few tvs so it's not like one person gets to dictate what's on it. The only problem is my computers are in my master, so if I am on here, sometimes I have to put up with news or sports lol.

mommyboo if when I was married if we had enough money for a 60 inch tV we would have been happy campers so maybe it depends on the person. I would now love an ordinary sized television that would fit on top of my bureau; no room for a huge one in this room. I am a widow so cannot comment om that really. c kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

My boyfriend and I have one television. We picked it out together, and it is of a modest size. My boyfriend has no overwhelming desire to have a huge television, nor do I. It isn't a male vs. female thing. It is a matter of priorities. My boyfriend and I are on a similar page regarding the accumulation of material goods. Eventually, if we end up in the sort of house I want, we will need to have a flat screen television--if we choose to have a television at all. You see, my goal is to have a tiny house (likely, 500 square feet or less); each thing that comes into it shall have to be thoughtfully chosen, because we shall not have the room to mindlessly accumulate things.

Wow... I could not live in a 500 square foot house. I was not aware there WERE houses that small... I think that's about the size I'd like a closet. My first apartment had 2 bedrooms and was about 1200 sq ft. It's impossible to entertain or have guests or extra kids if you don't have room in your home for them and activities. I like to cook but having a kitchen laid out well for cooking with enough space to store all your cookware and appliances basically means you need a big kitchen. Bottom line - you don't need a lot of material items to enjoy space. I don't have a ton of furniture, I have a sectional set with an ottoman, some bar stools for my counter, shelving for the electronics and a wall mount for the tv, that's all I have in the family area and even if I had double the space there, I wouldn't have much more, maybe a second loveseat or recliner, a tall bookcase and silk plant. I also have my daughter's small leather chairs. I dislike having furniture crammed in and filling up a room. Storage - with closed doors or cabinets is important so there isn't clutter everywhere visible.

My husband and I don't have a big TV nor do we need one since we don't have cable and we never watched it when we did have it so we decided to shut it off... I don't think it is a female/male thing, it is personal preference and what people can afford. I would disagree with my husband getting anything we could not afford, no matter what it is... Good thing I don't have a ton of shoes (I only own 2 pairs, a pair of sneakers and a pair of boots for the winter) don't have much jewelry either so I don't have to worry about that one! I am not the typical woman though and he is not the typical man. We are very different. I hate shopping and fashion and he hates sports with a passion. Everyone is different, no matter what their gender is.

I rarely if ever hear a man complain about the size of a tv - unless it's too small. I just thought it was funny how much this woman bagged on her husband's tv... I would be very appreciative of turning the loft from a master into a really nice tv room with the focal point being the gigantic tv lol. I agree with you about the affordability part, but I more or less meant if it was a purchase that had already been made and this tv had already been in your home for a number of years and it DID get daily use, why be so hateful about it? I don't think the guy necessarily required her to sit and watch it with him, from what I could gather, he worked full time and she used to until she went on maternity leave (she was almost due with their first baby). I love watching tv with my husband... we mostly just watch primetime stuff, netflix, hulu prime, etc. Daytime tv is terrible and I don't have it on much during the day unless I get on the treadmill.

Lol. I don't know much about a female thing, but I love his big TV and I want a bigger one. He is the one who is like 'No honey a 47" inch flat screen is enough.' and I am like 'No honey.. I want my own 60" inch flat screen to hook my xbox up to since you have the 47" for yours.' And him get rid of my shoes and jewelry? Lol. He wouldn't do that. I have two pairs of shoes and my wedding/engagement rings. I doubt he wants me to be walking around without those. I never understood women who complain about their husband's big TVs. It doesn't bother me in the slightest except I think he gets an unfair advantage in Call of Duty, but then again I am really bad at that game. It makes for a great movie night as well. :)

LOL! I am wondering where all these griping women are. The one on the show yesterday was horrible. I don't know why people don't appreciate things like this.. there are people who don't appreciate big houses, big beds, big bathrooms with nice big tubs and showers, big closets.... man I just want to hit people like that over the head lol. I only used the shoes and jewelry as an example of how a lot of women would feel in their husband's shoes, being griped at and asked to get rid of a large tv. Our bigger tv is in the family room, but we have one on the wall in our master too, and one in the formal area we turned into a gym.

What can I say? I don't even have mine but I'd love to have one. I love my TV to be like as big as a theater screen (exaggerating). I mean, I love it over jewelry and shoes.

My boyfriend isn't much of a TV fanatic, haha :D. He has an older model, not really huge, and that's enough for him. Ha rarely watches it, though, maybe for some films. I'm more of a TV person, to be fair, but still I'm kind of freaked out by huuuuuge TV screens. They make me feel intimidated and they are not that easy on my eyes, either. But I wouldn't make my boyfriend get rid of it. I would watch it with him together if there was something on both of us wanna watch, otherwise I would snuggle up in another room with a good book :).

I don't really watch too much TV but it is nice when watching a movie. There's just something about watching a movie on a big sized TV.
