You don't know what Exactly you are talking about, Right? nowhere in Islam the Prophet teaches to do a business instead of job as you said. you need to know that Islam recommends that everyone should work to gain his living no matter whether it is a Job or business, the Prophet Muhammad before doing business was a sheepherder and it was a Job, even when he did business it was not his Money, but He was employed to trade for Khadija, so it was also a Job for him.

Dear brother Tushavi, I do agree that business is better than Job, but this according to our opinions not according to any Islamic text, the hadith you mentioned in your post is about doing business in honest manner, it is not a comparison between business and Job. "The truthful, trustworthy merchant is with the Prophets, the truthful, and the martyrs." Jami' at-Tirmidhi Book 14, Hadith 7 http://sunnah.com/tirmidhi/14/7 and thank you for the best response

Wow...some enlightening there.. I think only the highly learned muslims really understand their religion. Rest are all being led astray by some fanatics...

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? all the best, urban

Jesus Christ drove the merchants out of the temple, not because they were merchants, but because they were in the wrong place, merchants should be in the market not in the the temple. Matthew 21:13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

I think there is really nothing specific. Of course everyone wants to have their own business - no one wants to have a boss, if our resources would permit it, we all want to have our own business, our own time (but yes it is harder than having a job becuase you have got to manage everything by yourself, which is totally different from being an employee where you only are assigned to do your specialty, and according to your skillset. :D Our religion (Christian) basically tells us that whatever we do we should do it for the Lord, and not for man (our boss), and that we should put our best effort. Afterall, god will bless the works of our hands whenever we are true to ourselves.

Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eye service, as men p leasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: Colosians 3:22 This is what should guide every employee. no cheating and stealing of time.

If the Lord commands servants to be honest to their masters, then it is not true that He asks us just to do business. If we all put up our own businesses, who would remain to be employed?

Hello Tushavi! No offense, but why should it matter what you do? I mean if what you say is truth. Do what you want to do. Get a job or start a business. Happy MyLotting. ~AussieGal~

I am a Hindu. So far as I know,my religion does not say anything on what one should do to survive. It only instructs us to be honest in doing anything that we do.If we are a servent,we should be honest servent, faithful to my master. If I am a farmer,I should be a hard working and honest farmer, and if I am a businessman,I should be a honest businessman.Honesty is given importance. But there is an old saying in our country that says that cultivation is the best.Business is second to cultivation.

This is odd, as I am a pagan/sorceress, and basically most of us do things with our hands. I am also a demonologist, and into the study of demons, who, I find, are not like the movies, and quite helpful in your life. I do not really think the occult has anything regarding business. I do have several awesome Muslim friends, and they are much like yourself, and are into business big time. I think it's a good thing. they give me good advice on selling my products. Be blessed in your business and have a great day!
