Is your Husband or boyfriend a Handy Man?

You know there are men in the world who claim to be Mr. fixit but they try and don't succeed. Then you have to call in a plumber, electrician, etc... Then you have men who start a job and never finish it. My hubby thank the lord is Mr. Fixit it. He can fix just about anything that comes across his path. It's really amazing to me. There have been many items given to him because they were broken and the person would say "there is no way anyone can fix it, do what you want with it." Then he goes off and fixes the item and is able to keep it. What about your husband or boyfriend are you as lucky as I am to have a handyman around?

To his opinion he probably is but I have my doubts. I think I am the handyman.

My boyfriend is like that, too. We've been together for 9 months, and we haven't had too many problems in the household so far (especially as we don't live together, as of now :D), but whenever something happened, he fixed it. He isn't even one of those guys who love DIY, but cause damage... he's pretty good with tools.

I agree, owning a house can be very costly especially if you have a mister and misses I can't fix a thing!

That is great because it is very helpful especially when or if you end up owning your own house one day.

My boyfriend is awesome when it comes to this kind of thing. He can fix just about anything, but if for some reason he can't he will say so. He won't try to be all macho about it and act like he can and make the problem worse. I really respect his honesty about everything (one of the many qualities I love about him).

Awww That is great. I'm like you don't like the macho stuff either. Either you can fix it or not.

Yes that is quite amazing. My hubby and his father also can build a concrete house. They made a concrete tool room last year all by themselves.

My husband is not a handy man. It would be so nice if at least one of us was good at those things. But we unfortunately are not good at those types of things. That one big reason I do not want us to own a home. Repairs for things are so costly and we don't have anybody in our family who is good at those things.I'm glad to hear that your husband is that way.

You are so right owning a home and not being handy becomes quite costly. Thankfully with the homes I have owned my hubby as saved us alot of money. You and your husband need to find a new friend who happens to be a handyman

My husband is a handy man. He is able to fix a lot of things around the house, which I am very grateful. But, then, I am handy as well. One Saturday morning, my husband was fixing breakfast - he loves to make breakfast; bacon and eggs and pancakes. While he was making breakfast, I fixed the door knob on the pantry door. So, he was at the stove cooking and I was using his tools to drill a new hole so that I could screw back on the knob. Yep, we are both handy.

Isn't that great! I love the reverse roles you are playing. I have learned so much from my hubby and he is even amazed at how much I can do around the house and yard.

My husband was an excellent Mr Fixit. He could do electrical work, plumbing, carpentry and almost anything else. Not only could he repair almost anything he set his mind to, but he could create things. I used to get an idea and tell him about it and he would take it to the next step and the next thing I knew, he was building it. He made us a combination bookcase/woodbox, put a bridge across a small stream, built a sturdy swing set for the kids' Christmas and so on. It saved a tremendous amount of money.

It does save alot of money. I love that what you think of he can make. That is how my hubby is too. You give him an idea and he flies away with it to create it.

Yes, my husband is handy. But there are some things that he cannot do also and he knows how to accept his limitations.

I wish tht my husband had had the knowledge of yours. My husband was hopeless and it amazes me that somehow my boys know so much about electrical things etc. I just don't know where they learnt it from - because is surely wasn't from their Daddy

My own dad was like that. He would try, but more then not he couldn't fix the problem and then would have to call someone in to finish the job. The funny thing is now in his seventy's he seems to have gotten more handy, putting down a new floor and plumbing problems.

If I had a husband or boyfriend, he probably would be good at fixing things. Its not necessary though, because I'll learn to solve the problem for myself if its possible.

My husband isn't the type. We call on our helper to do things such as changing light bulbs, fuse and other minor repairs. My husband would rather let somebody else to do it coz maybe he thinks he might not be able to do it the right way. Although if possible, I do them myself.

That sounds like my hubby and I. Even though I learned most everything from him. We actually designed our own kitchen and installed it ourselves. We have also brought down walls, redid walls, floors, painting, etc.. Put in a new ceiling and porch for my parents in their home. I guess that is why I also love watching HGTV.
