Time flies so soon

India
February 1, 2013 5:45am CST
I came with my wife to Hyderabad to stay with my son and his family on 1st of January 2013, a month passed so soon. Time seems to fly soon when you are happy, contented and enjoying it; but if you are sick, unhappy or waiting for a friend, a train, bus or flight departure; it seems to run so slow. I am happy contented with my life, God has given me obliging kids, grand kids, enough money; house of my own with all modern gadgets essential for living comfortably. Well I and my wife have health issues related to diabetes; it is age related; we have to face it, accept it with a smile. What is your view on life and time? Does time fly fast or it appears stationary or running slow, if so why? Are you contented too? Please share your views and comments on this please. Thanks in advance. Professor Dr. B.Saraf. PhD. Cheers have a lucky day ahead.

I was contemplating on the same thought just today. Actually, time these days runs quick especially with so much to do, i feel the need for longer time so I'll finish everything that's required. This is why I always appreciate and value every minute I have while I'm at it. I'm glad for you have reached that time in your life that you have everything to your heart's content.

My view on life is to achieve the goals we have planned before the scheduled time. For me time is running very fast because i spent most of my time in games, i do not utilize my time for useful stuff. Then just before the server time of a site comes i do the work in a hurry. I am contented with the time i have got, only i have to make good use of it. When i am in my native place and i am enjoying, i too feel time is running fast. When i am at my home or inside a train which is moving under the hot sun, i feel time is running very slow.

It is actually normal . If we don't have burdens and problems sharing with others and families , the time taste faster than usual 3 hours is like 3 minutes. Contrast to if we have problem with the people around us 1 hour is like 1 month

This is so true! Time is so slow when we are in a boring meeting. Times flies when we are having great time with friends and families. Weekdays seems so long especially on Monday and so short during weekends. We used to say " Oh no, Sunday is over, and tomorrow is Monday ... going to work, going to school, etc."

hi, that is true, time will go fast if you are happy and contented in life, and the time will slow if you are waiting for something or someone in your life, like in work the more you have no work the more the time is slow but when you are busy the time goes faster.

Time does fly fast when you're having fun. Maybe it's because you seem to wait more when youre stuck at life, can't wait to have a good job can't wait to have a lot of money and all those things. Life is slow when nothing is happening, and time seems to go slower when you're waiting for things to just happen. Maybe it's because you focus on the time so much? I'm not really sure. My life isn't so fast yet because I'm still starting, I just graduated and working myself for free. I try to keep busy so life wouldn't best dragging, I'm nagging my parents to send me to school so I can get a masters degree but they don't want me to. Hopefully they change their minds about it.

Time and tide in fact wait for no man. It is quite true that time would move faster when you are happy and cheerful. However it would pass at snail's pace when sadness sets in and trouble you.Have nice times. Dr.Sukumar MA, PhD

Hi Dr, Time nowadays does not wait for anything, it flies away in my case also. Now we can take the New year 2013. All were waiting for the arrival of New Year 2013 and were very happy to celebrate, but today is February 2nd 2013. See how one month has passed and we all are in the 2nd month. Today my mom went to Kerala. She had to catch the Train Netravati from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus by 11.40am. As the time flies very fast, she reached the station only before 3 min. ans all have to rush for her to be boarded in the compartment at her seat. She was tired and tired of rushing and was hyper with tension that she could board her train. She too is a Heart patient and diabetic. Well got got into the train and now she might have reached Panvel.

hi Professor, I remember something with your post. Few weeks ago, mom told me about what the priest preached in the church. He told to the old people to be happy and congratulate themselves for reaching the old age. I told mom that not old people can do that. Some neglected their youth, married early and got a miserable life. With that, they cannot congratulate themselves. I think they are feeling frustrated and lots of regrets are in their hearts. There are also old people who are opposite of them. Those were the hard workers during their youth. They studied hard, obeyed their parents and did not waste any single time doing nonsense activities. Time flies fast for those people who are enjoying their life. I agree with you. There are times that I feel how time flies so fast when I am very busy too. There are also times where I think that it is very slow whenever I am bored.

Hi, Professor~ I try my best to be content. And I know this attitude doesn't come easily. Music and travel make me feel great. That's why I want to work hard to get enough money to travel around. If I can, one day I want to be a bag-packer and just go around the world.

Yes, sometimes time is fleeting. A healthy young person riding her favorite horse doesn't ever have enough daylight. On the other hand cleaning house seems to go on forever. Show me a healthy person doing what they love and I can guarantee time goes by swiftly. I know winter seems shorter to me this year because I was able to start my own business. I don't have "cabin fever". I'm glad you can enjoy your life with your family and can consider your illnesses a mere byproduct of age.

Hope that I could feel also the way you feel right now at your age of being contented. I am still young perhaps so I find time myself to take the path where I want to go and achieve. All of us is wishing for a comfortable life being with our family and so we are striving hard to achieve that. So right now, I am really eager to pursue what I want and my ambition so that when I reach that age I will be contented already.

Passing of time is too fast to somebody who really enjoy, but if your sick and idle time is slow. That's true for no one like to stop their happy celebrations. To be sick with diabetes is not always an age related it is because of having a dull life without exercise the movement of blood circulations becomes abnormal some parts of the body becomes idle. Taking medicines cure the disease but developed if not destroy another part ( side effects ).

Yes time flies so fast my youngest daughter was only a kid before and now she is graduating in high school. I'm happy and contented we don't have health issues that's the most important thing to me. My parents are still strong even their were on 80's. There are things that I still want to have to my family but Im not in a hurry to get it soon. Time flies so fast and I know someday one at a time my dreams will come true faith and patience are within me.

Time is so slow when we are stuck in the traffic jam. Times flies when we are having wonderful time with families. School holidays seems so fast, exam seem so slow .... it happens to most of us everytime. Time is such a mysterious measurement that always leaves us puzzled!
