I was all excited about coming home until I reached the second leg of my travel...my first flight was departing at 6:45 pm arriving at 7:35...then the mess happened...I was suppose to depart at 10;10PM heading home then there was my first update of time change...from departing at 10:10 to 11:30PM to 12:07 AM to 12:27 AM then to being cancelled... The airport provides a list of hotel w/ reduced rates for cancelled flight passengers...well needless to say the hotel was 15 minutes away and costed a discount rate of $119.00...lol yep discounted...so that help me very quickly to make up my mind that that was not going to happen so I found a chair just like many others and there I was... It was not so bad just very uncomfortable with my bad back...The all night loud announcements...wow...so obviously no sleep for me and then to make matters worst I could not get out of there until 12:14 PM the following day... SO I WAS ELATED TO FINALLY BE HOME.....

Where is the best place to stay the night at an airport? I can tell you from experience that staying at the gate is the wrong answer. THe seating at the gate is usually individual chairs with arms between them. When I was young, I was able to slither under the arms and bridge across a few chairs for a restless night in what felt like a straight jacket! Not any more as the years and mileage have taken my formerly slim form and morphed it into jabba the hut. However, there are some places that you can get a good nights rest. First, the frequent flyer lounges have some 'lounges' that you can sleep in and you can sometimes get a day pass (or even get one from the airlines if they are the cause for your overnight). In some of the more progressive airports (like Schipol in Amsterdam) they have these lounge chairs in common areas. Second, find a restaurant - have a drink, watch a ball game.

I have not flown in ages. I have experienced delays and sat for hours in airports so I know it is very uncomfortable. I have traveled in the past with young people from the church. When you are young you cn just crash on the floor, but not me. I rode all night in a car, last Tuesday, in blowing snow. . . to pick up something in another town. My hubby had a friend we had to meet in that other town.

hahaha... such an experience. I slept thrice at the airport. I arrived first in the city but have a connecting flight to the province early morning, so since I arrived 1am, I opted to stay and wait for my morning flight at 6am. second time when I arrived to Vietnam and my employer will pick me up, I waited for him until morning. slept with other passengers again. third. when I came back here from holiday back home, I will use a bus ride the next day. Arrived again at 11pm. waited for 5am.. and slept along with other passengers on the waiting area, until 5. LOL. Not so comfortable, but.. it will just be a waste of money if I will get hotel for a matter of a few hours sleep. About your discussion Yes, it was comfortable, but hey you came home ... and just take a rest back home. and since you are a grown person you wouldn't mind some discomforts. If you have children with you that will be a problem and you have no choice but to get a room for the kids.
