Hi Tushavi,
there is culture difference between East and West. In the West men and women smoke and they take it easily. But in the East women usually don't smoke. In our Eastern culture we usually do not like smoker women. It is natural you will not prefer a girl to marry who smokes.

I'd be ok if he said smoking is bad and would you like to have a spouse who smokes..but he implied that as far as girls are concerned, they should adjust to the guys who smoke, but if she smokes, she is unacceptable. And that is prejudiced stuff..
I know Sharmila Tagore smokes...I saw her in person. And she is an exceptional lady. But she is not a regular smoker.

I've never liked seeing women smoke. That doesn't mean I don't like the woman, just her smoking habit.

Smoking kills definitely. I can't even stand it, to see actors smoking on screen like chain smokers. I ensured she quits before accepting the commitment and it worked fine for us. Depends on every individual's choice. I'm a quitter too.

i think it will depend to a woman and to a lover because like me i am really irritated when i smell smokes and i hate it,so for me i will not of course when my partner smokes but he can practice not to smoke if he wanted.there are also guy who accepted their partner who smoke because they smoke too.

Hello Tushavi!
I would prefer to be with someone who didn't smoke because I hate the smell and I would worry about my partners health all the time. But I guess it depends how much I like or even love him if he did smoke. Maybe I would tolerate it or maybe I would try and help him quit. Can't really say right now.

If I would love the person than it wouldn't matter if they smoked or not, I used to smoke for 25 years and quit for over 4 years now.
My boyfriend still smokes and i don't mind, i wish he would try to quit though course it really isn't healthy and it's expensive.

It's your prerogative......no argue about that. But what if you really fell in love with a woman but she never smoked in front of you, then one day she smokes in front of you, will you just leave her on the spot?

I think it's gender discrimination.why we can tolerant man smoke but no woman ?
I know smoking is harmful for our health,no matter any gender,we should give up this habit. smoking should not be a condition to decide marry with girl or not,as it's just the habit not personality,you can help her give up this.

If I fall in love who smokes, than doesn't matter. Its obvious that I will fall in love with a girl who just smoke a little. But since I myself is a non smoker, it's very unlikely that i will fall for a girl that smokes. But if I myself smoke, than doesn't matter whether the girl smokes or not. Personally, I really hate girls who smoke. Green and dirty things would rush into my mind every time I see girls of such trait. However, I am still pretty open that I could marry a girl who really smokes.

My husband and I both smoked when we met so obviously it didn't bother him that I was a smoker. =)
I think we all have our bad habits. If smoking is a deal breaker for you, that is your choice but just remember you might have a bad habit that someone else might not be able to deal with either...
We all have our flaws.
