Will move to a new place

This will be my last few days in this business/residential place that we are renting. We are moving to a new residential place and a new business place separately soon. We will move all our things tonight if the vehicle we borrowed is available. We have been here for years now and it will be hard for me to move but we have to. Rent had doubled in this place, which isn't right and isn't legal to doubling the rent. I am not comfortable in speaking with my landlord in a friendly manner these past month because of this. It annoys me too that he can't wait for the monthly due and he come here almost daily. It is okay if he will use the money for food or for his family but he just spend my advance payment for liquor. He came here almost daily! Thinking of the pros and cons, we thought that it is good to move out.

Well, since you are at that point, then it seems it is time to leave. I know the feeling and understand when the end of the road comes. But look at it in a positive way. This move might just be what you need. A brand new start. Now that sounds good to me.

That is good. I hope you enjoy your new place. As for leaving things behind, sometimes in life we have to, like you said, for peace of mind.

Thanks for sharing Sorry to hear this, some house owners are like that, during my service carrier of over 3 decades i was away from home for over 20 years in different places, i have lived in rented houses, some were good some bad lol. Now i have 2 buildings, 8 rooms we use and keep for guests. I have 6 renters all government servants they come to our portion pay rent by 5th of every month. Well i have bad experiences too, some renters who were business men left home with out paying rent of several months.

I am looking forward to the time that we will have our own house here in town. It is not nice to hear renters who vacate their place without paying or settling their obligations. We had moved in a new place just a few days ago and I had our landlord checked our place just yesterday to have him check the building that we left.

I too would be angry and resentful about lining someone's greedy pockets just for them to waste it on liquour, he sounds like a very dubious landlord to be honest and I would certainly be looking for alternative living arrangements.

We had moved in a new place now wolfie! :) That is the reason why I am away here in myLot for how many days. We have no internet connection here yet and what I am using now is prepaid internet. I am willing to help people whenever I can if I could see that they will also help themselves and not spend time on not so good things like gambling and liquor.. Yesterday, my husband talked to the caretaker of our previous place for him to inspect before we totally vacate the building. Sad to say that that man (the cretaker) is sickly now..

your landlord is so out of line and illegal that it is not even funny. Good grief...you give him advances on your rent?? He stops by daily?? That's nuts. I've rented for years and if I had a landlord like that...i'd report him. It's just wrong on all levels. I hope that you have documentation on your deposit and advanced rent so that you can recover it. And do you know that he is supposed to put it in a bank account and return it to you with the interest?? It is good that you are moving but don't let him get away with screwing you over.

I consumed my deposit and advance by not paying the electric and water bill. He knows that we will be leaving but he don't know that it is this soon. Actually, that landlord is only the caretaker of this place. My original landlord was the daughter of the owner but the caretaker cousin take it over. So it is just this caretaker cousin that we are not in good terms. He really is here almost daily and ask money even a hundred peso! Take note that those daily money that he collects goes to his vices. Thanks for your response.

Good luck to you bluespygirl. I hope you will find a place that better suits you. And I do think you are making a right decision. Your landlord doesn't sound very nice and doubling your rent is ridiculous. I could see it going up a few dollars but doubling it is too hard for anyone to pay. He's not suppose to bother you for the rent unless it is due. If you're late on paying it, that's a different story. All in all, I think you're better off getting out of here as much as it's a bother to move. I'm looking for a new place myself and hope to move within the next few months. I'm looking forward to it also but not looking forward to all the packing up.

Thank you friend. We had done most of transferring of our things last night. Only a few things was left in here. Moving out here means starting anew in the new place and we will start a new business as well. It is hard for me to leave because we had been here for almost five years. I have a deposit and advance rental and HE still bugs us almost daily for more advance rental. As I said, it is okay once and a while and if its for emergency reasons, but it is not. He just spend what he can collect to us to buy liquor. Goodluck on finding a new place too.

I have always looked at moving as a challenge and a chance to clean out much of the STUFF one tends to gather in just day to day living. Now you can chose what you will take with you and what not to clutter your life with. It's not often that we get a chance to start over and moving is one of these. Blessings

Thanks for your response friend. It is really a challenge to move out. It is like starting new in many aspects. CLEANING and transferring is another thing. I am very positive in moving out. I am hoping and praying good things to come ahead.

You are probably right to move out. It sounds like the landlord hasn't been treating you right. I hope your next landlord is better. It is a lot of work to move and it can be expensive, but it might be worth it!

We had moved most of our things last night and even though I hadn't unpack our things, I am asking myself where did I put certain things. I don't remember packing them. I did most of the packing with the help of my son and a friend. Thanks for wishing me luck. Me and my family love the new place that we will be renting for it has a garden space and big lawn that we can plant some flowers and maybe a little vegetables too. We miss gardening. But moving out here means we have to give up somethings like some of our small business. This place is nice to reside in and have business because it is just adjacent to the public market. However, checking the pros and cons, there are more cons so we decided to move out.

There's really no use in staying at a place where you no longer feel happy about. Much better to move out and look for a much better , livable and realistic rental fees to live at.

Sounds like a good idea to move. It is always a hassle to move and having to adjust to a new environment. But if it is for the better, then everything will go by smoothly with patience...
