Choice of having specific readers.

Hello mylotters, I wanted this query of mine to be sorted out. Please reply if you have any piece of information. I wanted to know, can I have a choice of choosing the readers of my discussion. If I do not want a particular post of mine to get read by a certain user, will I be given an option to do so? I tried to search this but couldn't find anything appropriate. Seeking your help. Thank You.

mylot has an open setup so anyone can respond to your discussions. there's no "block" feature. if you're seeking a specific answer or suggestion, maybe you can make your discussion as detailed as possible. if there are responses you don't feel like commenting back to, then just skip them.

Exactly same is my reaction. I do not think I have mentioned anywhere that I do not want them to respond back. I am just questioning whether if I am not comfortable with certain users reading my post, do I have an option for that? Isn't it surprising that whatever, and by that I mean whatever we write is actually exposed to every human on this globe. I am sure all of us want a feature like that, and of course may use it according to our convenience.

i think you're asking if you only want mylot members to read your discussions.

There is no way you can choose a discussion as to who responds back to it or not, as anyone here even if they are not your friend can respond back in here to your discussions. Sometimes, it would be nice if things you post could be more private, but they do not give us that option here. Maybe that is why I am more selective in what I can start here.

I am just putting my views in. Kindly do not see it as a crime. Even using the word "block" is being a bit rude for what I am suggesting. There are certain moments when you actually are hesitant to open up in front of some one but you are alright in discussing that very same topic with some other person. That does not mean you are enemy of the first one. You are not taking away any of his right. It is just a consequence of your uncomfortable nature regarding this topic that you not feel like discussing same about with him. With what you are saying, if I am hesitant to open up a topic in front of some few people then I am not allowed to bring it up on mylot as well.

Anyone at all is able to read your discussions and posts, whether they are a member of MyLot or not (they have to be a member of MyLot to respond or comment on it, of course). The Terms state: "By publishing ("posting") any content on or through the myLot website, you hereby grant to myLot an irrevocable infinite life limited license to use, modify, publicly perform, publicly display, reproduce, and distribute such content solely on and through the myLot website and third party sites with whom myLot has distribution agreements." MyLot is a DISCUSSION site, NOT a 'social networking' site. What networking facilities it has (in the way of adding 'friends' and Private Messaging) are purely ancillary. If you don't want something seen by a particular person or persons, DON'T publish it on MyLot - it's as simple as that!

I have understood we do not have such an option. But why not. Yes mylot is not a social networking site, but we should not forget it still remains a "website" that is open to all. All now I am questioning is why do not have such an option? I am okay with their terms and conditions but I am questioning its worth. I do not think having such an option will do any harm to any user. Those who want to get their posts opened to all will have all the freedom in this world of doing so. What will be extra bonus is we also will have the freedom not to get our posts disclosed to everyone on this globe if at all we have any issues in doing so!

i am quite old in this site, but i have no idea whether what you want can be done. the setting is not sophisticated here. all discussions are open to the members of a particular interest and your friends. if you want, you can post a discussion in an interest where that particular person is not a member, and you can discard him/her as your friend. in this way, you are limiting that chance of that person to read or participate in the discussion. but not totally making it impossible for that person to participate and read the discussion.

rally you need to find a paying site with Face Book options as here we are not a bit elite and we are not Facebook. and after reading what you want I assure that I will not respond to any of your discussions from now on as I know when I am not wanted. a

I think by now, I have figured it out that I do not have any such option which feels a bit surprising to me. With the whole lot of negative responses on this discussion, I should conclude by now that there is really no such options. Still I urge if you come across about any such feature, or any other which has faint resemblance with my query, this at least this discussions remains open to all of you.

MyLot is a fun community with a friendly atmosphere. If you have topics that you want to share with certain other users, but not with everyone, then you could use the PM function to do so but once you post them in a discussion then anyone and everyone will be able to read them and participate in them. Those on your friend list will be notified of your topic but there is no such alternative option, such as 'an enemy' list where you can block others. Hopefully there will never ever be such a feature here on myLot either.

There are other sites with that option. Fortunately myLot is different from those sites and has its own set-up which I trust will not change in the future.

Not actually I want a feature of having an enemy list if that is what you have got through my above words. But there is nothing wrong in having some issues and henceforth not feeling comfortable with them reading what we have written on a particular subject. This certainly does not make them our enemy. It is only a bit of uneasiness in letting them know what we think on a certain matter. Also here I want to make clear that it is not that I want only some users to have an access of what I write rather I want some particular users not to know what I write(and that is sometimes). Including such an option wouldn't do much harm!

You can't do it.Our posts are here and anybody can read them no matter he or she is a member of Mylot or not.It is on the internet. You can't be given any such option to make it impossible for undesired people to read them.Once you send a post and it gets published here on Mylot,it becomes available for everybody to see and read them.

And how far do you think it a nice option not to have a choice to decide who would or would not see your discussion?

I would have been happy with such an option had it been given to us,but after all it is for the admin to decide whether it should have been there or not.

Whatever post or discussion you start in mylot it is open for all members of mylot to see. I mean you won't be able to select a certain group or users to view your discussion, thus there is no such functionality from the site. If you do not tag your discussion, the less likely it will be popular because people won't be able to find it in search results. I wonder though why you wanted this kind of functionality in mylot?

There is no such feature like that here on mylot and that is something I am grateful for. Every discussion that you type up is open for everyone to read and that is it. Now if you have people on your friends list that you want them to know about something then you could pm them and discuss it with them like that.

Well I guess what you want is not possible. Because ever since you become a member here in myLot, it is assumed that you agreed that your discussions will be seen by everyone. No exemptions! :)

I am not an expert here in Mylot but then as far as i know no such thing as in your query . There is really a person whom we really don't like sometimes for no reason at all or because of some reasons. We can't do anything if they will drop in our posted discussion for everyone is free here to join in Mylot , all are given equal rights and privileges .If there is one comment you don't like then you can't do anything but to skip it or just say thank you .

So you are talking about blocking particular users from accessing your post but why you want to do it. Seems you have problem with someone here. Anyways there is no option in myLot to block users. So all posts are open for all users. And if you are having any problem with certain user then try to report it to the admin.

New here. Why would you post anything on the internet and want to censor it to certain people who don't agree with your views? That's nuts!
