]maybe this should go in the ranting category...
So tony agreed that I could write a letter for him to his insurance. I wrote up a draft and sent it to him to fill in the blanks. He sent me some of it, but not all.
So I asked for it again.
He doesn't have it. He sent everything to his insurance company, and he doesn't have it.

Frustration. I know we talked, and agreed he would keep everything in case it needed to go to court.
aargh.
So I'm going to have to be clever and put "the driver" instead of her name, "her father" instead of his name, and "previously provided to you" instead of attached.
I hope it flys.
aargh....

I hope it does. He could have made copy for either or all of you. Keeping originals. I wonder about this. Are you sure he isn't hiding something?

Maybe that's it then. Just passive and naive.

This is whyyou took it on as he was too passive. My husband was the same in some things I just had to take charge and do the donkey work. The plain fact is that youbare better at handling this than he is so he is happy for you to do so. Do I sound Irish today? My thoughts/words are a bit jumbled

Just chill. That will work okay. It will fly so high in the sky and all will be well. Stop stressing as it is not good for you. It was just a man thing. Wanted to send it off quickly without remembering or checking. and if it doesn't remeber that the insurance company is not as bright as you are. You will get through

Am I right in thinking that Tony sent everything off to the insurance company without photocopying it first? What if it gets lost in the post, or you need to reference it like you needed to in your letter? Anything that I post off I photocopy first for my records and just in case the insurance company or company that I sent it too accidentially lose it!

It should be ok. They do have a police report as well as the original accident report. Still, tell Tony that in the future, when dealing with anything at all like this, it is important to keep his own paper trail. Write down details of phone conversations such as dates, times as well as the person that he spoke to etc. & keep copies of every written transaction. I learned this lesson in battling a very different situation years ago. The opposing side had conveniently "lost" some of our written stuff and "forgotten" verbal conversations. I did win my case but it was much more frustrating as a result than need be. live and learn. If he is lucky, the insurance company will not play these games and this will all go smoothly. It's just better to have your own back, just in case.

Oh well, a police report would of helped but I think it will still be ok as long as both of you reported it to your insurance companies. Here, the police will take a report just to have it on file just in case it is needed. While we can just exchange info, if the police show up at the scene, they always do a report. That report was invaluable many times when I was working in the claims department in deciding who was right in a "he said..she said" case. In your case, it is pretty clear cut as far as I can tell. The other guy was 100% at fault. Tony had the right of way and was broad-sided. Unless Im missing something, I don't see any liability on Tony's part. This should be ok but in the future, Tony needs to be more pro-active. Police reports really should be pushed. A person sometimes does not claim injuries at the scene and then does so later.

I wish they had come and done a police report, but nothing to be done about it now.

No police report. When he called and told them nobody was injured they just said to exchange information.

COPIES Always keep copies. It sounds to me though he's trying to take care of it all himself. Normally, I'd say okay so be it. Seeing he doesn't have what you need now, I be slapping someone LOL ... I hope it gets accepted but without exact details it's hard to tell if they will.

They have most of the details. He just doesn't any more. Apparently he got mad because they weren't doing the right thing by him, and he tossed everything. He regrets doing that...

Well, even here in Italy, the insurance is very expensive and complicated, with all the bureaucracy that it follows.
You know, we only have a car insurance, among other things, made ??out to me, renewable each semester.
Luckily we never had claims through which we had to pay supplements.
I still hate the paperwork. But you have to live every day through these things!
