It's senior year for me this year, and we were given an essay to take home and complete. The essay should comprise of at least 500 words, and you can type the words up. There were a couple of groans/moans through the classroom. I would understand that if the person had other things that have a bigger priority than the essay given to us, but is typing up an essay that has at least five hundred words that difficult? The essay prompt is whether School uniforms should be enforced or not in public schools, which is quite a controversial topic in itself, and gives a couple of select reasons why it should and shouldn't be, but overall it's a very easy prompt to write about. I guess it's just me because I type up at least a paragraph in each of my posts, but is typing up an essay really that difficult? I can't help but think it isn't.

That isn't difficult at all in my honest opinion. I mean I am in the process of writing a full novel so of course I wouldn't think it is difficult. But for a prompt such as that it is so easy to write MORE than 500 words. If they moan/groan about it that just means they are lazy. Now if they had an obligation such as work or a family to take care of then I could see the hesitation for such a task. Otherwise you shouldn't complain.

Perosnally, for me it would be easy. All you have to do is research and organize thoughts. Then try to write in a very organized manner. I have to agree with some responders that is you're lazy and don't want to it really, you'll find it hard to do. But if writing and researching is a routine, I could say, it won't take you an hour to write a draft or even with proofing.

For people who enjoy writing and the process it isn't a problem. But for people who hate English and don't like to even write it can be a real challenge for them. I love to write so I can't imagine the other side of the coin but it is something to think about.

This is just a normal article having 500 words. Especially that your topic would only require you to give your opinion. You are lucky perhaps because you were able to practice about giving opinion already but of course your classmates might find it hard because they are not doing it for sometime. Have a nice day!
