Hello Tushavi! I would have to disagree. It's all about hard work too. Yeah maybe sometimes it can be from some luck and the people you know but mainly hard work. Happy MyLotting. ~AussieGal~

Of course no one can fight something that nobody can see, touch or hold. Luck is just a concept. Whatever we do that is our luck regardless of what the consequences/results are. You study hard, you pass your exam, that is your luck. You did not study well and you failed your exam, that was also your luck. You put in your 100% efforts and you still failed your exam, or if you did not put in any efforts at all but still passed your exam, that is also your luck. You made your own luck.

I don't believe in luck. I believe in blessings from God.

Your mother is right.Luck really matters.I was watching a programme on the tv.A reputed industrialist was the chief guest. At the end of the programme,he said a very important thing,'You know I am a very busy man.I never get time. The most important thing I learned from my life is,behind every achievement, there is 99% of your hard labor and only 1% of your luck, but if that 1% is not on your side, the rest 99% goes futile.' I believe in luck.It really plays a majore role in determining our fate.

I am agree to some extent because i believe there's existense of luck because someone born to rich family and someone born to a beggars family so this is luck but i am disagree to the fact that luck has to do something with our lives as many people got a successful life only after doing so much struggle in their life and they did not blame luck for their miseries. They just did hard work and changed their fate. I think getting birth in this world is luck but living your life is not luck, it depends on yourself how to move in your life...

Nobody has proven that there is luck working for every one or a few of us. Its only thing which we relate to after a happening. If something good happens to someone then we call it a good luck otherwise we make a diff statement. Its hard working and not good luck which works. remember here on mylot you get paid for hard work and not for being lucky. I was too lucky yesterday but i did not earn much. But i earned a lot when i worked hard here....

Party agreed! To a certain extent, one can control one's life circumstances .. at least, one can control the way one looks at life. But sometimes, we just got to grin and bear it.

I disagree. That person you're talking about with just 12 grades of education can become rich if he works hard and makes the right social and business contacts, if he has an idea for something that people need and knows the right people that can help him. Someone who is highly educated might apply for jobs and wait around and never get a decent job but that 12th grade person doesn't wait--he goes to social events, makes friends, joins professional associations and makes himself known in the area of work that he wants or makes friends with people he shares interests with. He actively campaigns for what he wants so he succeeds. I believe some things are luck or pre-ordained but God gave us brains and skills and if we use them we can succeed. We have to look for opportunities, seek them out and take advantage of them.

I don't think that luck is the only thing that determines a person's success or lack of success. Some things are beyond our control, but I also think that there are many things that we are able to change or control if we work hard. An example could be two men who get the same opportunity. One of them has worked hard and he is ready to make the most of the opportunity that he gets. The other man didn't prepare himself for the situation and even though he gets exactly the same opportunity he isn't able to benefit from the situation. They were both "lucky" and both of them got the same opportunity, but only one of them was able to succeed. I think that lucky people are people who are prepared and people who aren't afraid to take a chance.

I dont think it is luck. It is being smart. Their are people that are too good at their job that companies dont even look at what school degree they have. You can study and have degrees but if someone that has no degrees knows how to do your job better than you then why would they pick you. Now a days if you decide to get a degree you need to take it in something that you can invest your work in and be the best at and also make sure that is something that is going to have some availability around the country.

I know someone who barely finished high school but is earning more than what an ordinary employee is receiving. Actually now he is more financially stable than most of his childhood friends who are college graduates and are working in government and private companies. But it was not due to luck that he attained this. He started raising chicken, pigs and backyard animals when he stopped studying and through his patience and handwork he had expanded his poultry and added other farm related activities that give him multiple sources of income.

hmmm... maybe yes Luck... and perseverance and hard work. Sometimes people have perseverance and hard work... but no Luck. Well this has been my question too friend.

That is right. You can be really good in academics but then without the opportunity, well it nothing, its useless.

I actually strongly disagree with you. Yes, sometimes people can get lucky and have something nice happen to them (sometimes that would be the lottery, but that is too rare to consider). I think thinking things through and coming up with unique ideas is a great way to be successful financially. Look at this site for example. A social networking site that pays you, quite unique, and they aren't doing bad at all. I believe you make your own luck. Thinking positive helps, I don;t know if it helps in the way the movie "The Secret" says it does, but it helps you mentally and have a positive outlook on life in general. Luck does have a small part in our lives, but working hard and perseverance is much much more important.

I completely disagree with you. unfortunately the example you gave is of me, i am an engineer. was working for a s/w company till 15 days back wasn't earning millions obviously but was earning good enough to be satisfied. suddenly due to funds problem company had to shut its operations and i lost my job. Now you will call it luck, but i call it lack of pro-activeness, i was lazy enough to analyze the situation, i should have reacted on time and searched for another job or may be should have started my own business. For me there is nothing as LUCK, when you fail you call it luck. when you succeed you call it your efforts, this is how maximum people think.
