When I went to Hangzhou last year,I went to a restaurant but found no menus there.I never came across that before,so I ordered the dishes that I ate many times. What would you do if you were me?

It is interesting.. I understand that there would be limited number of dishes available in the restaurant and the waiter would have told you about it. If you could get to know about dishes through the restaurant owner/manager/waiter, it is fine to dine there. It happens here also, there are small road side eateries on the highways, which serve limited and common dishes for lunch and dinner and people who travel on highways just order the food of their choice.

I have never seen this here. I was thinking that if they had no menu they can serve anything... or a unique dish. I believe that if you ask for a unicorn steak they say "We have a stock shortage on unicorns today, but come back tomorrow. For today I would suggest you our special dish of the day."

Some of the things are unique to our country. What you have stated could also be correct.

You are lucky that you get what you want. If I were in this situation, I will ask the waiter or the boss what they serve, then I will order what I want. Have a nice day, wwjwcom.

I once visited an Italian restaurant where there weren't any menus. My friend and I had never been there before and we asked for the menu, but the waiter laughed and said: "We don't have a menu. I decide which dish you are going to eat and the dish will be a surprice!" After some time the waiter brought us our food and it was very delicous. Later we discovered the restaurant was famous for their unusual idea and actually very popular. It is only time that I have visited a restaurant with no menus. If it happens again I would probably ask the waiter to me tell about the options.

Hmm, well I guess I would have to ask the server what they are serving that day. And I will make my choice from there. Or maybe ask for something if ever their cook can make it for me.

i was very rare to eat at the restaurant. if i went to some place i think the simple one is to buy instant noodle. it was very practice for me. ecxept if i feel very hungry so i try to look for other menu's.

No menu? What exactly they cook and serve? I will normally walk one round and see what other people are eating. Observe any leftover on plates which means that dish is not so good. By glancing and a bit of judging/justification, I will point to a plate some one currently eating and order it.

Lol! I guess I will just ask what is their best seller dish! Or instead of asking... I will just make my own menu and ask them to cook it for me... I think that will be cool... as if I am eating to a very high class restaurant that they can cook whatever I want to it... and the chef would love to cook it for me. :) This discussion is cool... but also it makes me crave now for food... I want a hot soup with noodles.... yummy! :) Have a great day!
